Yes, I don't know why. My bf doesn't like the taste either :mclaugh: And he used to be a milk person, then he stopped drinking it for a year and now we're both most probably lactose intolerant :mcheh: I've never liked milk anyway, that's not a big loss for me XD
I can't really taste the lactose-free milk is sweeter, more that it's sweet and bitter, with bitterness prevailing, maybe that's why it reminds me of the taste of burned milk.
At least it's an alternative for the cat milk, so that's good for savings :mcglee:

My home Internet is down for week so no posting tI'll it's back. Using Peters mobile data for a by but don't want to go over its 10 gig limit.

Also on topic I'm alergic to milk technically (as a baby i couldn't have any milk at all bar special expensive formula) but it's not a lactose intolerance from what I've noticed. But I drink light milk, so less fat I think. I've never had lactose free milk before.

They're making meat which is created under similar conditions too. You can actually buy a lab-grown steak. But it's just so expensive that it won't likely be on offer to "normal" people soon. Though they're optimistic to bring the price down one day, it's all about supply and demand, and they need more demand in order to mass-produce it.

tbh I don't think people like my partner would be a fan of the lab grown meat.

Though if it meant say buying lamb or steak, the good bits, were cheaper cause of lab grown meat then sure..

In saying that Peter works in palatalizing at his work (abattoir for cattle only)

If you already eat meat, then an ethical substitute probably isn't marketed at you :P

I would not say so. There are many people who like animals, but love meat just too much, like my husband. He could never refrain from eating meat. He just loves meat more than he loves animals (Like I just ove cheese more than I love cows, so I could never become a vegan, as long as there is no proper artificial milk) But if there was an alternative that would not involve harming/killing animals he would certainly prefer that - as long as it was not more expansive.

I think in the beginning many people would be grossed out by the thought of lab-grown meat. But I sure hope that one day it will become a "normal" thing. Though I don't think that will happen in my lifetime.

I don't eat a lot of meat but yeah I do eat meat.

Tbh I'm not sure it'll catch on just yet, maybe.. another 20 years or so away?

Tbh though the abattoir is the main thing that keeps this town where I live running. It is the place with the jobs. If it closed down, the town would follow.

But I am sure if there ever was an artificial-meat market, that would crate new jobs as well.

I think one thing we can expec from the future is that there will be less and less jobs in general. Old things will be replaced by new ones. A lot of jobs will die out - Bookseller, librarian, I don't think these are things that will be common in the future, becaus epeople prefer e-books and thatw ill be normal one day. I already do not know a single store here in the area that sells CDs! And in my childhood we used to have whole stores that sold nothing but CDs.
Real shops will be more and more replaced by online shopping and a lot of other jobs will be done by computers and machines. On one hand thats great - less hard or monotone work for people - but on the other hand that will of course cause a great deal of new problems, because all these people whos jobs will be replaced by something else will still need money to live.

The future is a scary thing, I am glad I don't have to live through it, or at least only a small part of it. I don't think machines and computers will really make lifes easier for anyone but already rich people.

Lab-grown meat sounds very futuristic :mcgasp: If it would be for a normal price, or not much more expensive from regular meat, I would go for it. I already decreased my meat consumption but I would gladly just not eat the regular meat. Whenever I do, I think about how the animals most probably were suffering inhumane conditions and death and... well, it takes away my appetite :mcheh: I like the taste of meat, just not the thought of another creature suffering for my cravings... Though I'm still not any closer to become vegetarian, let alone vegan XD

On jobs, I think we'll just need more engineers, like IT people who can take care of all the computers and machines. That's probably the future jobs. And unfortunaley that's not necessarily for everyone.

Yes, of course we would need more IT people, but see, here is the problem: The kind of labor machines and computers will do, will mostly be work of people with lower educations. Assembly-line work, construction, shop assistant, these kind of work. (I know there are exceptions, like machines doing surgeries, etc.) While IT people usually have a university degree or at least diploma. It's usually the smart people who have these jobs and usually these are the people who already get paid well (with exceptions: See starkad... :mcheh: ) and don't have problems finding a job. But what will all the people with lower educations do? The ones who do the "dirty" jobs? No Assembly-line worker will scream "Hurray! I don't have to do this shitty work anymore, because now a machine does the job for me" - Because it means he has no job and therefore no money. We can't all be IT people. I know I suck at it, because it requires way too much mathematical thinking and I was never good at it.

When I read about things like Amazon trying out shops without actually any people working in them, it kind of scares me, if that's the future. It means Amazon and other companies will get richer as in the long run machines are cheaper than people, but what will all the people in this line of work do? Unemployemnt already is such a big problem, it will get even much bigger in the future. One day, unless you are a genius, you won't be able to get a job, because all the simple jobs are done by machines.
