I hear ya. When you start to hear crickets, that's too calm lol

Ooh I understand your frustration D: I honestly thought that realtors showed the house or apartment to potential buyers, not just pick a few. That's a terrible way to go about it I think :/

Wishing you the best of luck! And hey, if you get it, maybe you can help out the refugees who come in :D It's sad that they're being displaced. And the refugee camps aren't the best either, from pictures I've seen. I am getting super nosy so feel free to tell me to mind my own business.... but are there a lot of refugees coming into your city/town? There's a lot in the south of Idaho (where I'm planning to move, actually) but I haven't actually seen refugee camps set up anywhere in my area.

I am sure they do so when it's about buyers, but we are just looking to rent an apartment.
At first I thought it was a bad way to go about it too, but the longer I thought about it, the better it actually seemed to me. Because if we get to see an apartment they will still decide whether we get it based on our data like income, how many people, pets, and so on. So, if they know that they won't give us the apartment from the start, why waste their and our time with apartment tours for apartments we won't get?
So I think this method actually isn't too bad - I just wish we would be lucky from time to time and actually get a tour, instead of, well, never. Makes me feel like they don't see us as potential tenants at all and I never get to learn why, because I don't think there is anything wrong with out data. We have no depts, always paid our rent in time, we never apply for apartments that are more than we can afford. The only thing many landlors don't like is that we have pets, but we only applied for apartments that don't forbid them, so they should just forbid them if that's the reason why they never pick us for a tour.

Oh, you don't need to worry about this particular refugee camp. This will actually be a luxury refugee cam that will compete with every 5-star hotel. I kid you not. It's one of the things I am super upset about: Our town has its own housing corporation and they claim to be so social and build "affordable" apartments. They are building whole apartment settlements and we hoped we could get an apartment there, after all they claim to build apartments for every need there. - Turned out that they did not consider people with lower income need apartments too, because even the smalles apartment in these settlements was out of our price range! They are building luxury apartments with things like remotelly controlled roller shutter or dustbins and stuff like this. Fancy stuff that's nice to have, but makes the apartments expensive so no poor person can pay for them. And exactly this housing corporation is building the refugee camp and they plan to use it a s"normal" apartments once the refugees move out again. So the refugess will probably have apartments there that I can only dream of and that I could never afford.

I must admit, I am not sure whether we have many refugees compared to other cities. The current infomartion is that this town has close to 2000 refugees and can house over 4000. But I am honestly not wure whether that's a lot or little compared to other cities. (And of course this isn't a really huge town, so that plays a role too). The "refugee camps" we have here are proper buildings, it's not like tents or anything like this. We have old baracks that are unused, and a great part of them is now used as a refugee camp. It is called the Patrick Henry Village and it's like a whole tiny town. But they want to not have all refugees in one place (which makes sense for integration purposes), so they are building smaller refugee "camps" (= Apartments) for them all over town.
Are the living conditions bad for refugees where you live?

That makes sense actually. I never thought about it like that before :o But as for the pets thing, if they don't forbid them, they shouldn't skip over you because you have pets. Not breaking any of the rules when sending in the application.

That refugee camp sounds frigging ridiculous. I am on the low income side of society (actually considered underclass, even under the working poor) and not trying to sound b!tchy or anything but it's not exactly right to make these high end refugee camps for them when I can barely get by afford my rent with my SSI check. I am unable to work at the moment and every penny goes towards rent, food, medical bills, clothing, and there is never anything left over. I am lucky if I can stretch that money to last me an entire month.

From the pictures I have seen of the refugee camps here, it seems to be okay. The south of Idaho is kinda like Houston in terms of culture and business, and lots of events and charity work going on there. Lots of refugees have populated the city and it's growing. I am hoping to be able to move there soon and actually get a jump start on my life.

I don't think I even have a chance at the posting competition, I got so inactive and there's almost no one to talk to in my usual threads... I'll have to find some new ones I guess.
