Just because her husband (I assume?) Died doesn't mean she should drink herself to death. Though basically the same thing happened to my mom. My dad was her self control apparently. She makes way worse decisions without him.

Yeah, icing the wine is nothing like drinking water. I guess it does negate some of the effect, but not much.

What do you guys mean by negate it?
I've heard that you should drink as much water as alcoholic beverages to reduce the chance of a hangover, but that doesn't mean it's like you didn't drink the alcohol...

Negate as in I guess reverse or stop the affect of alcohol.


I think mum slipped into depression but was too stubborn to see a trained psychologist rather instead went to the bottle, or she'd talk to her friends. Friends do help yes but it is better to see a trained professional, preferably one that will help and preferably not a 'natural/organic/new age' kind. Like proper trained psychologist.

Yeah, water to alcohol consumption should be about equal. So a few ice cubes isn't going to make it any better.

noope cause her reaction to me see a psychologist myself wasn't that great..

hard to describe her reaction but somehow she wasn't happy about it which is just a bit weird imo. One day I'll ask about it.


I wonder if she reacts the same about my brother who also sees at times when he can afford to, a psychologist.

Hm, maybe it made her think about needing to do that too and that's why she reacted weird? No idea if that makes any sense...

It does make a bit of sense but iono mum seemed against it.

Might be, there's still a lot of people who think that seeing a psychologist means you're somehow really messed up and crazy, when in reality it might just mean you need help to deal with some shit.

I hate that point of view. My grandma's sister (my aunt) seems to think that same shit, and so does her daughter, who happens to have a few psychological issues (and is my god mother lol). Even her father (my uncle) said she needs a psychiatrist (not even a psychologist at this point, which is sad) and not some doctors. but they're like "nope, she's sick on her body, she's not crazy". Everybody in our family tried to convince them at some point to seek help in psychology instead medicine but they'd always get crazy offended at the insinuation. welp, some people are just stupid and want to suffer. It's their own wish.

Awww, that sucks mem. Your poor cousin. Even when she comes to the realization herself that she does need that kind of help, she'll have a mother opposing it to deal with :(
