Fun fact, I once had a housemate for two years and I didn't know what her name was :D She told me just one time and that wasn't enough to make it stick, and after a certain time it became too awkward to ask haha.
Haha, J is a little hard of hearing too and he sometimes guesses the most random things. I'm staring at him like, that doesn't even sound similar to what I said or have the same number of syllables, how did you get that XD

How do you forget to read a name tag? lol. It's right there when you look at them.
Whhhhat? That's insane! Didn't she get any mail or anything?
Oh yeah I say the weirdest things sometimes. I can't really think of anything I've said right now.

She was part of a married couple, so their mail always came to him or said something like 'Mrs T Surname' :'D

because it's hard to read?
also the name tag just doesn't have her name on it, also has Tafe written on it and I think the tafe symbol.

That's weird. I'm married and all my mail still has my name on it. Now there are some things that come as Mrs. Husband's Last Name. Even though I kept my name.
Pisses me off that people keep putting my husband's last name even though I've told everyone I kept my maiden name.
Ah, I guess. Maybe next time you see her try chatting with her so you have time to read it?

I actually lived with a roomate whos name I also did not know for like 2 years. Super embarassing. Was the same situation as with Jacob- she told me her name when I moved in, I forgot it immediately and then never dared to ask again.

But we didn't really communicate anything but a "hello" when we met in the kitchen once in a while and that was about it. I always thought it was really akward to live together with someone you had absolutely no connection with, but we were put together in a shared apartment by the student union.

I am also very forgetful.
Y'all are so funny. I forget people's names constantly. I just keep asking them what it is.
For the first few dates with Kevin I couldn't for the life of me remember his name. I got it down eventually. lol.
Also! Happy Birthday!! I hope your day is awesome as you are~!

I was a student at that time as well! The woman wasn't though.
It's kind of old fashioned here but people do still get things addressed by the husband's name. Like I will probably get addressed as Mrs J Rehal once we're married (even though my first name begins with an R
). Usually it's just things like bills and official notices though.
Don't get me started on how backwards our system for official notices and so on is. To sign up to pay taxes you have to do a whole thing with getting different codes in different envelopes through the post. God forbid you should have a postman who doesn't put stuff in the right place, like, you know, all postmen throughout the entire country.

Have you ever thought about keeping your name? It was a lot easier and cheaper for me to keep my name. Didn't have to get new paperwork. Didn't have to pay for the name changing paperwork. I probably saved over 400 bucks.
I also really hate the connotation that when a woman is married that she loses her entire identity to her husband. That she is just an extension of him. It really grosses me out.
I don't judge women who do take their husband's names though. I just really don't like that it's expected. Like most people don't even consider the husband taking the wife's name, the wife not changing her name at all, or even making up a name to share.
I hate the way taxes are done here too.
