Dungeon Keeper is an old PC game similar to that, but your a dungeon lord who controls monsters to attack the heroes in order to collect these crystals so that the monsters can make their were to the surface where the humans live. (only game I have where you can play an evil character XD).

You have to build up and expand your dungeon, learn new spells and research new rooms and traps and protect your dungeon from enemies while accomplishing a certain goal. I just don't like playing with people I don't know online. >>;
