I want to know as well! Was it good? My friend is a big Mulan fan and I wonder if it is worth watching.

I liked it! It was good entertainment factor lol. Culturally though, it was all over the place. But I liked it! I like the new song by Christina Aguilera at the end. The movie is a bit more serious. And there’s a bit of gender inequality. You’d understand if you watch it. I felt bad for the witch. I felt she was just as much as a victim than a true villain.
If you watch it with entertainment in mind, it’s fine. For Chinese culture though? Yeah forget about it it lol. My parents raged a bit about it, calling it a western trash movie. I was okay with it.
If you want to watch it, let me know! I think I still have the link for it. Give me a PM though, I don’t want to distribute the link everywhere lol.

Ah, it makes me kinda sad, I was hoping they will do justice to Chinese culture and history.
You've made me curious about the witch though, now I want to watch it just for this character.

well honestly, i don't really think so? i mean, sure there was some cultural aspects but....uhh...well i remember my friend remarking that the first outfit the emperor wore had not only chinese elements, but japanese and korean too. @-@ so yeah, they kinda smushed stuff together.
and like the makeup during the matchmaker part, it reminded me more of japanese geishas although i'm sure historically the chinese had similar traditions as well.
i think the thing that made my parents rage the most was the three "pillars of virtue" which were engraved in the sword. they just literally smacked three words together, sort of how western people get tattoos of characters like "strength" or whatnot because they have MEANING. but if this had been culturally accurate, engravings would be more poetic in nature, probably in some kind of half couplet. not just three random words engraved together. @-@

I was watching Abroad in Japan today while mom was at the dr's and Chris was talking about how people get tattoos of chinese and japanese characters and believe they say one thing, when they say something else.
Made me remember of this part in the movie Moonchild where the idiot Westerner got a tattoo, told everyone it said ninja, and it said Kitchen, and gackt was all "o3o yea it says ninja... -walks off-" xD
kinda sucked they didn't do their homework right on the cultural things. I found a place where I could.. snag the movie >w> I plan on watching it this weekend.
o3o there's a witch?

Yeahh, those tattoos. That's what it felt like when I saw those engraved words on the sword. @-@ I mean, they DO mean those so called "pillars of virtue" but uh......in Chinese, you wouldn't just smush three words together like that lol. Sometimes, if you smush Chinese words together, without context, they could mean something else. So. Yeah.
Ahh so you've already got a place for the movie. I still have mine so if you want it, just give me a message lol.
I'm not sure how much homework they did on the cultural things, given there were supernatural elements. For all I know, they could've smushed different costumes from different Asian cultures or time periods and that's it. xD;;
Yeah. There's a witch. Instead of Shanyu's falcon, you get a shapeshifting witch.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and instead of Mushu, you get a phoenix. And a fatty instead of Crikee (the cricket). LOL and instead of a Little Brother, we get a younger sister. XD YEAH.

There was some sort of musician last year who wanted the name of her latest album as a tattoo in Japanese. Seven Rings is what she wanted, the Kanji used is: 七輪
七 - Seven
輪 - Ring
when separate at least...
when together it's Charcoal Grill.. x'D
owo I torrented it >w>
okay, i get changing the falcon and.. mushu i guess... and crikee... but why change little brother to little sister? is little sister still a dog tho? o3o or an actual little sister? DUN TELL ME!! >A< I'll find out when I watch it this weekend!! -flail-

Didn't she also attempt to fix it and have made yet another mistake with even worse outcome? :')
I'll just never understand... if you want a world in specific language on tattoo, in movie etc, why not hire someone fluent in that language to verify it? Why people just go and do those ridiculous mistakes that could be fixed by literally paying few dollars for verification?

I'm not sure as I only just now heard about it in the Abroad in Japan videos x'D He used her as an example.
My one ex boyfriend tattoo'd my name in Katakana (or what should be my name in katatana) on his arm after we broke up... =w=, idiot... hope it hurts getting it laser removed!!
There was another youtuber that did a whole video on the whole foreigners with kanji tattoos... >w> I think it was That Man Yuta. He goes around and asks people their opinions on certain topics and stuff.
xD Shhh don't tell them this! They might actually start asking for help with their tattoos and we'd no longer have interesting asian language butchery permanently printed on the bodies of idiots!
I use to want a tattoo... but what I wanted was the same tattoo on HYDE's back.. an outline of a pair of wings. woulda costed me 300$.. didn't have the munz and now I'm happy i didn't.. when people gain and lose weight, the skin stretches and un stretches and warps tattoos... x-x I gained weight since then so the fat on my back probably would have warped the wings.
