If we are talking about the same shrub with a lot of small flowers, then yeah! I would not call it the most tasty thing, but for me it has certain amount of nostalgia. I have also seen people use its flowers on cakes and such as edible decoration.

I remember there used to be a lilac tree at my old elementary school. I don't remember who it was but they were the ones who told me to pick the blossoms and suck on them. so.......yeah? xD

i don't remember what lilac flowers tasted like. it was probably slightly sweet? iunno, it was too long ago lol.

I had to replant the water wisteria, it wasn't liking the sand so I used some zeolite as temporary gravel =w=
