Yeah the Kinect for the 360 had that problem
The Wii certainly didn't, haven't had any of the Just Dance games on my Switch so can't say for it

Wait so if you want to play with multiple people, do each of you have to have the device? Or do you share it?

One device, multiple controllers for the Just Dance games

Yup, what Hart said. The Switch originally has two controllers on either side. After you detach them, you can play multiplayer games like dance ones.

Wait why would detaching the controls let you play with more people? Don't you need those controllers to play to begin with?

well the original switch has the screen in the middle with two detachable controllers on either side. the controls are basically similar on either side so by detaching it, you can play with a friend using it.

Ooooh, so it's not that you detach them so you can play without them.
It's that you detach them, so you can play with them!

Unless you have a Switch Lite. Then they're permanently attached, and if they have the joycon drift...ouch
My original came-with-the-system pair has the drift, but luckily it's light
