It was a female betta fish.
I had my friend come over and look at her and he said it could have been one of a million things. Old age, over feeding, tap water changes. D:
No signs of viruses so I guess that was good.
Only had her for less than a year though....She would always get so excited when I would come up to the tank and welcomed tank cleanings. Wouldnt even fight me, just swim in the net. I miss her, she was awesome.

I still have two more fish, they are both male bettas, that are showing signs of sickness now. Just found out that our apartment has been changing its water source and I'm pretty sure that it's whats causing the problems. Sooooo now I have to go get treatment for them and hope it's not to late and a giant water filter that can clean the water before I use it for their tank.
Hopefully everything works out. Don't want to lose any more fish.

Usually 3years but if you buy your fish from a pet store there is really no idea knowing how old it is unless they have papers on them.
If you want to try and get a baby betta look for smaller less colorful ones. They usually are just still growing.
The big ones with super long fins and bring colors tend to be the oldest.
