Yeah, that's unfortunate.

Luckily I have been to busy to come start the next task by skipping this glitched one. I hope something can be done for those that hoped they could come back and do it once it was fixed.

what I did was go to the shops and then keep going back and forth on them. it's just a quick click to go between the pages so you get more pages and more chances of the pop-up.

Saw this too late...Already skipped it and now apparently you can't do the tasks later? Can someone tell me what the item granted for this task was?

Okay so I'm toxxic, on my mule. Decided to play here since I skipped the task on the other. I'm finding no angler fish. On my other account, I found 3 before I gave up. Either I have absolute awful luck or these things need a higher chance of being found. I went through every page on this site, some more than once, and not a single fish. At that rate I don't see how it's possible to find all 30.

There aren't 30 Anglerfish to be found - the possible number of Anglerfish you can find is unlimited.
Many people have managed to complete the task and even get a multiple of what they need. As of now there are, for example, 378 Anglerfish available in the market: So many people have not only managed to get a multiple of what is needed, but are selling it to those who might have problem finding them.
If collecting them is too much trouble for you, and you also do not wish to or can't buy them, then there is still the option to skip a task.
The tasks all have different difficulty levels. Some are easy, some are hard, some might take a few minutes to complete, some might require a few hours of work. Some simply aren't meant to be easy.
