I don't think I could trust my cats with fire, no matter how well protected the fireplace was. Hermes has already singed his whiskers multiple times on candles.

She nags when there's no flames, even if there's plenty of heat kicking

I had a black cat who used to stare at the fireplace like she was in a trance every time we used it.

I'm sure my old cat would love to sit in front of the fire, cozy as could be. It's my younger heathens that I worry about. No space in our house is safe from them.

It got nippy tonight and I turned my heater on. Suddenly, cats everywhere. And my dog got in my lap. XD
