no because his dr will just use his weight as an excuse to not really find out the issue.
I hate it when doctors do that. Sure weight can be a symptom or part of the main cause but a) he's trying and succeeding in losing weight. b) he stopped the diet for a bit because his knees were killing him the more he lost weight. As in stabbed in the knee pain. c) drs will just say lose weight if he goes about the knee issue.
iono I know his snoring is partially due to weight but when he was on the diet before the snoring didn't change much this time unlike previous times. -shrug- I kinda understand him not wanting to go to the drs.

Well yes, larger people do have a tendency to have sleep apnea... still, not a reason to not treat it. My boyfriend has it, and you can die in your sleep because you stop breathing while snoring. It can cause heart attacks and strokes. Of course, losing weight will be helpful but doesn't necessarily mean the sleep apnea or snoring would go away. My boyfriend is also overweight, and we got a referral years ago from a doc to see a sleep apnea specialist and for the last 7 or so years he wears a mask thing when he goes to bed that helps him stay breathing all through the night ... and no snoring! 
Of course, also working on him losing weight as well for his general health.

Aren't those mask things just as noisy though? lol
my aunt has one and I vaguely remember it being noisy.
Well tbh he's still stubborn about going to a gp.
Though in saying all that, is sleep apnea treatable in other ways besides the mask thing?

Not at all - they were probably noisy years ago but they have improved them. It's like a very quiet stream of air sound ... much better than his horrible old snoring!! LoL. As far as I know there's no other treatments but best to check out with sleep docs about that.

You'd be surprised ... I would just look up "sleep clinic" or "sleep apnea specialist". I never knew they had anything like that until I had to look for it. LoL.

Alas it seems the nearest is in the next town over which is an hour and half drive away
