I have a reoccurring yearly subscription for that, and it's mainly used for Stardew
The annoying thing is there's another one to access the retro game catalog they have. No, I have Online, I shouldn't need another subscription to play Minish Cap

So far I only found the PC "Stardew Valley" via Steam, which means online required.
But maybe it's elsewhere and I'm just not recognizing the different options?
Could well be.
Or maybe for people who know the "Steam" platform (seriously why is it called that, that's a cooking term...) there's a way to download it so you don't need internet after the initial installation.
Again, I'm not good at tech, so...

Initial download will 100% need an internet connection, but after that you don't need internet to play by yourself

Something to do with Valve and being "steam powered" iirc

While I don't understand how that works exactly, that's still great news!

I believe a lot of games on Steam are like that. Once you've downloaded them you don't need an internet connection. Kinda like having the CD(s) to download the game but not needing a specific one to play the game

yeah but see, i don't want to pay to subscribe to something for a game that i'm not even playing all that much. xD;; but without getting the subscription, i'm also missing out on so much stuff.

Wait, where does the subscription come in? I only saw a flat fee to purchase it initially?

Hotarla is talking about something else, Akili

I do have use for the NSO subscription for other games (Splatoon 3, for instance), but Stardew is the main one. Plus i can afford it, which helps

Oh, thanks, that's a relief.

And, hey, talking about games and subscriptions and all has brought me to a grand total of over 300 donuts!
Huzzah!

Being able to afford games is definitely helpful, lol, trying to scrape it out of a tight budget makes it hard to even enjoy playing because if you're anything like me, you keep thinking "I could have used this money X place and Y debt and Z budget..." and then you feel guilty instead of enjoying the game....
Or maybe that's just me.

I'm lucky that I can afford stuff and still have money saved the overtime in summer l, especially when I'm printing, helps
Not much, but i know full well it's more than most ever have
Like my couch and chair were both fully paid upon purchase, I know most people would need a payment plan for them

This will make 428 for me. We have through the 13th to collect for this round. I'm hoping for at least 450, if not 475
