That’s probably why I would prefer studying mythology. Bc it’s more like learning about stories.

"How well people memorize random stuff" is not exactly a useful rubrik any longer to measure students with. We have so many external memory devices these days!
Testing on ability to research, assess sources, and organize data sets?
Now, that would be actually helpful.
So, of course we don't do that.
>.<
Sometimes I really wonder.
School is supposed to prepare us for today's society? Nonsense, more like our grandparents' society!

School is to make us good little drones for the factories. New day same routine
If schools were meant to teach us how to do stuff like think critically, teachers would be well-paid, schools well-funded, and incentives to go and learn

It’s sometimes hard for me to remember stuff unless I write it down. Like muscle memory lol.

My supervisor is like that
Which is why last year when she told me that she had stuff for me to do in the few days between Christmas and new years I'll looked at her and told her that she's the one who signed me to have off those days
She called me a brat ahahahahahaha
I do refer to her a mom and she responds, which makes things even funnier

When my mom was homeschooling me and my sister (2000-2007 for me), she stressed research skills above all else. She said that we lived in an era of information and the most important thing we could learn is how to find data and comprehend what we found. I've tried passing the same thing on to my kids.

Knowing how to sort out misinformation is super important these days too

One of the most devastating topics that high school graduates are taught in college is the Columbus myth in the states. I had to write four papers about it in community college.

Might as well throw out the entirety of history books if you want to blot out misinformation. "The winners write the books, the losers right the songs", as they say, and leave the records riddled with inaccuracies.

I’ve heard that too, that history is written by the winners. ^^;;
