I have no idea, you could ask around, look for a kind of internship maybe at editing/publishing agencies? Though you'd probably do need to have some sort of schooling/background experience.
'Reading a lot' isn't going to cut it probably c':

I live rural so makes it hard
and I moved here of my own choice, to make a long distance relationship no longer long distance.
So there aren't a lot of jobs her.

Somewhat.
It's a case of I've looked at jobs available in town and applied to ones I think I can do. But otherwise since I've stopped looking.

For what it's worth, you can be paid to be a beta reader. You can set yourself up on Fiverr or something like that to get experience first off.

Been rejected from each application.
It's not so simple sounding. The first things I have to do is rebuild my confidence while I fight off my anxiety and depression. And cross my fingers and toes I don't get a panic attack in the near future.
The main fact of it is, there aren't a lot of jobs going and those that are, I'm not experienced enough for at all, or confident enough for the ones I do have some experience in (and I do mean like some..).
Also Australia is having, no matter how much the government doesn't really want to admit it, a lack of jobs issue.
So for now I have to take small tiny steps. The first being this volunteering. For me it's a huge step really.
And I'm not moving, not unless Peter wants to move too which I won't force him to because he has a very good permanent full time job something which is really rare now because we made our jobs mostly casual. And he's coming up to 10 years with the company. The only reason I think we'd ever move is if his workplace went bust. If it goes bust the town goes bust.
Sorry I ranted. I just get told the same thing over and over or I get asked why don't I move.

Are you getting by on his salary? Or is it really necessary for you to find a job, quickly?
You never need to apologise for ranting c;

I rely on his income but it'd be good to have my own job too. Whenever certain bills come up such as electricity, we tend to be broke for 2 weeks. Like really broke.
But I can't get government benefits because they deemed that he earns too much, mind you this is deemed before tax is taken out. And he gets a lot of tax taken out, along with super (super fund being like uh retirement fund).
That said I'm sort of glad I don't have to deal with centerlink anymore.
