Good thing he's nice to you!
I read the second article now
I see problems in that study and I agree with the author that at some points not enough attention was driven to.
I think it depends on many circumstances, especially the social surroundings.
I'd say my personality does not change with the language, rather with the situation, location and people around me. And it does not matter whether I speak German, English, French or whatever to those people, it just depends on how they treat me, whether I feel comfy and confident with them etc. :)

Yeah, I just wish he wouldn't yell at people all the time. Even if he's not yelling at me, I still can't function properly when someone is yelling. I feel helpless and in danger
Seriously? Like no difference at all with the language? I feel much more confident when I speak English, it's easier for me to get my thoughts together, it's like I have no words in Polish, but English makes things easier ;>///> I nPolish I often lose words, my trail of thogught, I stutter or stumble over the words and such. It doesn't really matter who I speak to, it's much easier in English. I talk way more in English than I would in Polish. So yeah, I'd say I'm much more confident speaking English over my native language. Maybe it's because I speak in more of an American accent and Americans seem much more laid back, at least to me.
I had one more article about this, multilingual people and personality differences, but it was in Polish so, I'd have to translate it for you all to read it XD

Mem I had recently read an interesting article on how people adopt different mindsets when speaking in different languages. Because there are no literal translations from one language to another you basically adapt to different styles. Basically the same as yours but this one was in English - I think.

That makes a lot of sense!

I think this could actually apply to at least some people (me, lol).
Boss sent me to deliver a letter to the tax office, I made it safely there and then home, and I'm about one hours earlier here

*proud confetti rain* Now I'm waiting for a package, hopefully it will make it tonight, if not, I'm gonna call someone and yell their ears off

@LittleJulez - It's funny, we had an American guy working with us who everyone regarded as being the worst guy ever, he even got called Captain America sarcastically because he was so rude and dismissive of people. I wonder if it's just incompatibility with English and American styles XD He would do stuff like answer the phone with "Yo, dude?" instead of the correct phrasing "Good afternoon/morning, [name of company]" and everyone would roll their eyes and gasp at him lol. Also he was always chewing gum in the office with his mouth wide open D: so ruuuuuuuuude

Yes I hate that too if people yell, even if I am only an observer.
Yep, no difference with the language.
Sometimes I am missing the German word, but know the English one, but this has nothing to do with my personality I guess.
Jacob, this sounds so rude, indeed! I hate such people! Maybe he wanted to get fired again xD?

For me it's sometimes just that I can't think of the word in the other language, but sometimes it's really that I don't have any way to accurately express what I think in it. So I can imagine how language might shape personality in that there's some things that you just have no words for in it, so you never think about them (because you can't really, without words).

Crazy thing is he never got fired... he was best friends with the boss because they played amateur football together -___- eventually he quit and went to work somewhere else, can't imagine he got on well there.

@Chrizine: I know what you mean.
@jacob: Boss's besties are the worst, they think nothing applies to them, even good manners, because they're friends with the boss.

It's even worse if the boss get that person a promotion or something like that. That's what it was like in bf's previous job.
