There are a lot of white wolves which are wanderers ready to adopt, some of them come with bonuses (Herbalists who've mastered some plants, alchemists who know recipes, animal trainers who have caught animals already). So it's worth checking those out.

I haven't tried them but there are mutability potions which I think change what your villager species/look is. I think it randomizes the color, but if the fox is the wrong color to begin with you could keep trying until you made it into an arctic one? This is guesswork, like I said, I have not tried the mutability potions.

I dunno, really, by the time you are ready for it more people will have mastered more recipes and the prices will probably start dropping

About the repair thing, I'm wondering if we are not able to repair our own stuff. I think maybe to seek us from being completely self-sufficient. They want us to have to rely on other villages/players. Just a thought.
