We had this longstanding tradition of buying little houseplants and calling them Honga. In itself it's a joke from the show Neighbours, but I called my first plant that and then after a year or so it died and I was sad. So we went and bought a new one and called it Honga 2. Now we're on Honga 3 XD did I mention how bad we are at keeping things alive? :'D

I don't know I think a year or so is quite a long time to keep a plant alive, I'll be happy if I can keep my cacti ok for a few weeks :'D

I have a plant at home that has been on the verges to death a few times and that I manage to save at the last minute every time. Right now it's mostly brown but there's a tiny bit of green in the middle so I know it's still alive.
jacobgrey wrote:We only have plants on our balcony too Kuuki, and it faces over a busy car park ^^ They still manage to thrive. Actually, all our plants only died over the winter because we thought they would be better off transferring to J's parents who garden a lot while we were away for the holidays. Those "green thumb" people with a healthy garden environment managed to kill them in a week XD
I'm actually still a little mad about it :'D
I'm pretty sure they'd thrive, some of my neighbors do have a thriving garden on their balcony, my problem is that first I don't feel like getting out to take care of the garden with that kind of highway and second that the fumes make everything outside incredibly dirty.

I guess that's true Kuuki. We clean up every so often to kee it looking tidy. Plus we have a table and chairs out there so I guess I have more motivation to go out XD When it gets super hot in the summer, it's too hot inside and I have to go out there in order to concentrate on work.
I guess it's a good while. But I'd like to have a plant that flowers twice in its lifetime someday :'D we actually have a rose plant which is about four years old but it hasn't flowered since the first year. It's always been just slightly hanging on haha.

I don't have a green thumb but I have tried with snap dragons which have sort of managed before they got sick
and also tried with those plants that don't need a lot of water but are good in the tiny terrariums.
Mum has pretty much all of my terrariums now though

Ooh I wanted some of those terrarium ones. We have some bronze decorative shapes in various places in the living room (like the light shade, for example), so a bronze terrarium would look so good.

How come? I thought they would be easy if you don't need to water them much.

One of the things I really want to have in my future home is a little homemade herb rack, where you just snip off a bit of herbs that you happen to need while cooking and just let it grow otherwise. My grandmother had that in her kitchen and it was so cute and handy!
