Aww, that sounds so sweet! I love growing basil because it's easy to take care of. And cheap, so when it dies you can just buy more XD

I've always wanted that too!
Now the only problem I have is that I have close to no natural light coming in my kitchen so the plants would die.

Ah, well, that shouldn't be too bad then - I'm fairly good at checking plants before I water them so I don't give them too much. It's forgetting to check them for a while where I normally have a problem XD
We used to have a kitchen with no natural light too, it felt so horrible. Or maybe that's my tainted recollection because once I got locked in there with a broken door and it was a traumatic experience XD

It's actually an open kitchen so it's not that bad. It's just not direct and probably way too little to raise good herbs.
I wish I could move back to the countryside but it's not going to happen for now.

Open kitchens are my favourite style that I've had so far. I like how you can be cooking and also talking to someone who isn't in the kitchen with you. And there's more space, or at least it feels like it is.
J keeps saying he wants to move to the countryside but I'm not sure. I just got used to having good transport links, I'm not ready to give up my ability to go anywhere I like again just yet XD

@jacobgrey: Not true with mine, it feels small and it is small. It feels crowded instantly when we try cooking together. Then again, I'm grateful I have a real kitchen.
You indeed do need a car in the countryside and everything is pretty far but I like opening my windows and not having instantly a few people seeing what I'm doing.
@Popo: I could. But then I forget to water them way too easily ^^
