That sounds like even if you have to go without traveling for a time, those jobs might make up for that with an interesting experience themselves! Good luck on getting one that you like :)
And you can spend the time planning where you want to travel to next and dreaming about it... Unless you already had everything planned out, that is.

Thanks for the good luck! Most of the time we had larger limits, like 6 or 8 pages, and I wouldn't even fill them up completely. That feels a lot better - I like to write them small, so I don't have as many pages to search around on in the exam, but if I could theoretically have many pages it is a lot more relaxed when trying to decide what to put on them and what to leave off.
The lecture is an introductory course into machine learning. Not a topic I'm interested in, but there's another course on it that's (technically not, but practically) obligatory in the master, so I thought it would be a good idea to get a little familiar with it.

Yeah, exactly! When you add procrastination into the mix, you don't even get to the point to say "well, that should be enough for today, I can do something fun now for the rest of it" very often. At least not before late in the evening...

I am excited about being able to work in my field again, but the timing is crummy. We'd getting there around October and November, and the worst time to be in Mass is from November to May. x.x And the idea of buying and wearing a suit every day, commuting to work hours a day in the cold, not being able to travel...it stinks. Stinks a lot. But it'd be nice to be with friends again, have a social life again, and have some good money coming in. ^^; We need to figure it out. The first thing to figure out is how to get enough money for the down payment.... >>

Wow, that's a big cheat sheet! o.o The few profs that did allow cheat sheets (I think I've only had two that allowed it) limited it to a one-sided index card. x.x Tiny tiny writing...
Oh! My hubby is into Machine Learning! He's just finishing up a nanodegree in it right now. He loves it. ^^ Though, to me, it's basically gibberish. x.x I don't have the Comp Sci or math background for it. How are you enjoying it?

The idea of a big cheat sheet is that you don't have to know definitions and stuff like that by heart, but rather show in the exam that you're able to work with them. It's mainly limited so that you can't just put a big bunch of example exercise solutions and work along those I guess.
But quite often we also don't have any cheat sheet at all, and that's fine too. Then the really important definitions are usually just given as part of the task description again. I kind of like that better, because then it doesn't depend on whether you managed to write the right things on your sheet how well you do. But writing the sheet is also a really good way to think through the material again and condense for yourself what is important. So I think both ways have their merits. I just dislike small cheat sheets more than either of the other two options :D
Just an index card o.O that sounds so horrible!

I think it's really fascinating how much you can do with machine learning. Some applications are really cool. But I don't really enjoy it, I don't like probability theory much. I also prefer hard guarantees over expected good behaviours, I'm really interested in verification myself.

Never had a cheat sheet, ever.
But the whole point of most of our exams (essays for the most part) is to show you know how to use the knowledge you have, even if it's incomplete, to answer the question. So I guess it would be useless.

At least for me, the only classes I was allowed cheat sheets in was Organic Chemistry and Physics, so they were mostly used to write down formulas, since most exams would require that you use 10-25 different formulas in combination with each other to figure out the answer. ^^; But it was always stressful trying to condense an entire semester's worth of formulas into a single index card. x.x Cumulative finals were awful.

Makes sense. Listening to C talk about the projects he's working on, and ideas on what he wants to create is always interesting. It's crazy what you can do with computers these days. But I can't imagine knowing enough to generate it yourself. x.x That boy is a smart cookie. People don't give people in comp sci nearly enough credit.

I wonder if I can hit the event post goal twice before Kyan comes back. ^^; That'd be cool. I'm almost to my next 25!

I hate cumulative exams, especially when the knowledge is really specific.
In high school my mathematics teacher adivsed us to put all the formulas in our calculator even if it was supposed to be forbidden. I didn't end up using though.

I wonder if she's going to come back soon, she accepted the trade we had in pending a few days ago but that's all, I hope she's just busy having fun.

Me too. I feel bad that she's going to have a LOT of pages to catch up on when she gets back! I hope she bookmarked where she left off!
I hope everything is alright, and that she is just super busy having buttloads of fun! :D

I'm not sure if she'll have a choice, if she wants to keep the event going. ^^; At least with the Random Numbers, she'll have to go through page by page to reward people. Luckily, the posting prizes and the avatar contest entries are pmed to her, and there was obviously no trivia or secret word contests while she was gone, but the random numbers event might take awhile to catch up on... x.x Poor Kyan.
