Well, that makes sense. Aren't sim games specifically designed to "simulate life" (shortened to "sim" from "simulation")? So if they were created well, then they should remind you of life... and vise versa.
(Vise versus? Vise versa? Okay, which one is it?)

the only games i can get into are virtual world, simulation and dressup games. and i usually don't stick unless there's a social aspect.
oh, i like some rpgs. usually if i get into a guild, that social, collaborative aspect keeps me hooked. lone rpgs are fine if they're completely text.
all these old school games that need reflexes were never my cup of tea lol

Oh, well. Reflexes.
I tried to play one of the "Mario" games, visiting a cousin for a summer back in the 1990's. SuperMarioWorld? Something like that.
Couldn't get off that first beginner island.
Reflexes.
Sigh.
My cousin finally took pity and 'got me past' it, except then I couldn't do anything more with it either, so we abandoned the game in the end.
I used to be into the Green Dragon games, that's a text-only RPG-style of thing, have you ever played that one?

i feel you. my dad said my reflexes would build through practice, but that didn't happen lol. not that i tried very hard tho tbh, when i couldn't get past a level i'd get sick of it and quit. and it's not just video games; my reflexes suck in sports too. you know when the knuffels say 'i wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, and then it hit me?' that's me lol. dodgeball was the only exception ever.
yeah actually i used to play a bit of Improbable Island and that's by the same people who made Legend of the Green Dragon! i also remember you recced it to me when i was asking around about text rpgs. and it's blocked by my college wifi just like all the rest of them, maaaaan it's been a while since i played any. sigh.

Oooh, that's right! I remember that conversation now!
Boy your college was really thorough! Unless they did a "block everything, we'll give you a specific list of exceptions to let through", which would definitely make it impossible to find something that could slip through....

the college wifi blocks everything games. and also everything sexually explicit. but it does so using keywords from the site. (that made my game theory homework hell to research one time). it classifies automatically. kofk is classified under Entertainment lol. and sometimes random stuff gets blocked; like my Kawaii Webmailer got classified as Sexually Explicit and i was like???
an rpg would make it through the cracks if it didn't mention anywhere in its homepage or whatever that it's a game in so many words, or use the word 'play'... maaaaybe. like, Dappervolk wasn't blocked at first, and then it suddenly it was?? even though it doesn't literally say 'I'M A GAME WOOHOO' it's more 'START YOUR ADVENTURE' or something idk i don't remember exactly and i can't check now cause it's blocked

That sounds like a challenge I would've expected a couple of students to take up by deliberately creating text-based RPGs just to get around it....
(Maybe something as simple as a "choose your own adventure" where anyone who goes through it can add in options and write new possibilities, so the more people who play, the more complex it gets)

that would be a lot of fun to do actually. thing is all the students here are stress-out sleep-deprived messes who just do a Netflix binge to de-stress. or they go out drinking.

Wow, nice, Lady River!
Mynah, I feel like if I tried to destress by drinking, I would end up more stressed the next day....
