D: I know it's too late now, but next time, if the hard drive isn't broken broken, you should get someone with Linux(?) to help you get the files. Or just make sure to back up your data. :)
I broke a part of my hard drive by getting pissed off and slamming the laptop shut. orz Luckily my friend was able to recover the files for me before the company replaced my hard drive. He used Ubuntu (or Linux...?) or something to "open" the files on the hard drive and copy them. The part that I broke was the part that writes new information to the hard drive, so I could still get/read the data that was originally on it. >>b

The problem was that my computer wouldn't turn on. We can't recover the files and it was kind of a virus that affected another virus which affected my files >3>
