If I did come into a lot of money, I'd donate here but also buy us a new house.
Our house is being fixed up, but we don't have central heat and air. We depend on one AC and gas heaters.

Ours is just so old. No insulation, not central heat and air, falling apart.
It'd probably be easier to just buy a new house 8u
I always wanted a Victorian looking house and my mom always loved round porches so I'd like to get us one we both always wanted xD

If you own the place, you could probably sell it for the land value or something, and then buy a new house with the money (is that how real estate works?

My family says never to sell a house that you own.
I don't think my house would be worth much as it's in very poor shape and I don't live in the best part of town so I don't know if anyone wants the land 8u

Fair enough. It's true, a good idea is to keep a house if you own it, that way you at least own something.

My ex-uncle ended up selling his house that he had for a long time.
We told him not to do it, but he did it anyways.
He had issues finding a place to stay.
That just told me even more not to just sell my house.
UNLESS I get a ton of money or...a house for a free xD

That's the dream isn't it? A while ago I was looking up places to rent because I was planning to move out, but living is SO EXPENSIVE ARGH
