@Firn's way, way earlier post: I see what you mean about how much better the covers look. I know the hardbacks of some of Pratchett's earlier works were so bad here that it made me want to write a letter to the publisher about firing whoever did them.
As far as random items are concerned... How about something like this?
You have received a gift from a secret, NPC admirer. It looks like an ordinary, if slightly fancier than normal, donut box, but the contents inside may not be what you expect...
Or something like the above, only featuring a gift bag with tissue covering up the contents.
For the trading, how about something like '(Some name starting with T for the NPC)'s Trading Post'? You could dress him up in a tophat, but it might work better with an American Indian/fur trapper looking guy instead.
