I had been reluctant towards reading/watching at the begining, but i fell so deeply in love with the series that i can't stop now!XD i'm in 4th book right now, though i had to take a break for a bit because of new assignments and loads of other book sets to read for my University. I'm so badly looking to some holliday break, even one day of freedom to readXD

I love Tyrion so much! Both in the books and the series, he's definitely one of my most favorite characters ever.

I'm reading Dance with Dragons.

These books are fantastic, but they're so long and i have ADD so i get bored with them after a few chapters and have to take a break. I've been reading DwD since the show's season three premier and i'm only about 65% done with it.

Seriously? I must be weird, I read all the five books in aprox 2 weeks each. I had watched the 3 seasons of the series, and I was hooked I had to start reading the books! And also I had to do something while there was no Supernatural. :(

Everybody loves Tyrion! :-D Including me, he's possibly my most favourite character in the series (along with Dany, maybe). Anyway, ASOIAF is a great series, one of the best fantasy I have read in my entire life. Just re-reading it because of the TV series, almost done with the first book.

I just can't seem to get through the first book. Not sure why... I'm a huge fan of high fantasy so this should be right up my alley.
My friends tell me the first one is a little slow but the next ones are much better.

Your friends are right. I really like the first book because of the interesting characters and how well it is written, but it's true it has a lot of exposition. It gets more dramatic in the last third or so, though, and the following books are even better. Keep reading, you won't regret it!

I'm stopped halfway through the third book. I'll pick it up again someday, but for now I need a break :). Good series, but very heavy and a lot of exposition (as others have noted)

I started the series some years ago and now I've started it again. Only on the 1st book though but it's great.

I think when you said readers in the thread title, you meant victims.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan. But I also recognize that being a fan of this series is an exercise in futility because they are all going to die. I've accepted this.
