Hi Paris :]
I, too would really want to learn Japanese. And I have to agree with you. It is hard - especially since you also need to study their own writing style. >.<
Well, people still post here everyday but they're really few. But then again, this is just my second day in this site so I don't really know much >.<

Every day is more active than the other site. >.< I posted I question there once and it took 2 weeks to get a reply!

I think I'll eventually have the written language down pat. It'll just take practice. :qh: What I'm more worried about is the spoken language. O.O

That is quite inactive. >.<

Oh, right. It would be difficult since you wouldn't have anyone to practice with. Why don't you drag a younger sibling with you and force him/her to practice with you? >w<

They kinda do, but if you notice each has something a little different about them. *took me awhile too get them down, still doesn`t know a few*

@Paris: The best way to learn how to say words is to listen jpop or subbed anime. The thing to remember though is I is said E and the R`s are kinda like L`s, so Rui would be Lue *if that makes sense*

That does make sense, yes. :mccute:

? and ? look far too similar. I've been practicing, but mine keep looking the same. D: I don't see how the different stroke order helps either. I guess it helps more with a brush?

i think ? and?? are the worst ^^,
but they all become very easy when u look at how they are written by hand. I know them all now and they don't look the same anymore :)

The first one (Katakana: n) is more horiziontal. the little stripe's made first, the second one is from down to up.
The second one (Katakana: so) is more vertical. the little stripe's made first again but the second one is from up to down..
have a look at:
http://www.sf.airnet.ne.jp/~ts/japanese/cover.html for the sound and strokes of kana
http://lingweb.eva.mpg.de/kanji/ for the strokes of kanji, ON- and kunreading and so on...(sry, it's german, so u cannot use it as a translator..)

You guys are really good at this.
I think it would be quite difficult to actually write this characters though. A wrong tilt of your hand could easily earn you a mistake...

just train a bit :)
hiragana and katakana become rly easy when writing a bit. thats why they are all i can xD. I dont understand, what i am reading, but i can read and write in kana whatever u want me to oO
just write some of them every day and u'll know them all in 2 weeks. repeat them whenever u've got time and u'll become fast in reading them. just have a look at the right strokeorder and -oriantation
