I only know kanji.

You know kanji, but not hiragana or katakana? That's kinda weird. O.o

^_^; I don't read manga before they are translated into English, so I couldn't say for sure.

Hiragana are used to write word endings and particles. They are also used to write books for children that haven't learned kanji yet, and for words with obscure kanji.

Katakana are used to write words of foreign origin.

There's probably more to it than that, but that's all I know. Kanji are basically used for everything else. But I thought you had to learn hiragana before kanji?

I bought a book with all the kanji you need to know to pass the lvl 4 Japanese proficiency test, so I'm working on those.

I was playing Okami the other day and I suddenly realised the imps have katakana on their masks. XD Except the merchant imps. They have the kanji for "merchandise" I think.

Yes, I love that game very much. It made me interested in finding out the myths it is based off of. Totally worth looking up.

It really depends on the manga, some of the raw ones I have have kanji with hiragana written next to it and others that just have the kanji.
