I dunno lol. I guess anything that’s on the main radio stations? I only really listen to the Chinese radio bc my mom listens to it. Lol
Tbh, I don’t like a lot of the newer music these days. Like what’s with all the rapping and swearing? How can you even call that singing or music anymore? Lol

The overuse of cymbals in a lot of rap and hiphop drives me nuts. High pitched sounds in general hurt my ears, so there's that.

I think pop in general is supposed to be really upbeat with relatively simple sheet music...? So says a few musicians I've talked to who compared classical music and power metal to modern rock and pop songs. The lyrics in modern music do get kind of dull and repetitive, especially when they swear too much. Very boring.

Yeah I mean a song that’s just swearing is just…not really a song lol. Like I prefer listening to oldies. That have actual lyrics. That can be understood. Lol

So, when you say oldies, you mean songs created before the digital revolution?
I need terms defined here, because this is not an area I know much about

Yes lol that’s what I meant. My mom recorded music on old cassette tapes that I still have.

Nice! So she knew the musicians? Or she went to concerts with a tape recorder? Or is it family get-togethers that she happened to record?

No she recorded the music from the radio. Old stereos or walkmans or whatever (dunno about now) have a record function in their cassette player. So you’ll listen to the radio with a cassette in the player and when there’s a song on the radio you like, you just press record.

My old stereo also plays cassettes and also has a record function.
