Hart-
Can I ask kind of weird question? I mentioned in a blog post that I'd embarrassed myself on a critique site and was having difficulty going back, but kind of wanted to try again, because I knew I could do better than what I'd posted before. And a friend of mine said you can't have an ego with writing. I'm not sure what she meant. Is it egotistical to do what I was thinking of doing or is it my ego that's in the way of me taking critique? @_@;; Sorry if that's kind of random. I guess I shouldn't let it bother me...

I'll check out the writing forum here. I've seen a lot of poetry- which I don't know anything about. v_v;;

I saw one of the Twilight movies and was laughing so hard, because I saw Vampires Suck before seeing the movie and I didn't think half the silly things that happened in VS would actually happen in Twilight... But they did.

Aha, I feel bad for my friend --we were talking about what's up and up on my forum, and we did the Sue test together. She scored 43, but it feels kinda like BS, since her character was supposed to be a common type of character with little romantic interest or unique powers. I don't understand how she scored poorly, but I blame it on the fact that she uses said character in RPs, original fiction, and fan fiction. :X That and I guess being female really plays a role in being a "Sue" I guess. Boo.

@Nuke: I think sometimes it's a person's ego that makes it difficult to accept critique. I know I feel that way sometimes, but I usually wait it out until I feel less butt-hurt about my writing not being all it's cracked up to be, and after it feels less personal, I try to look at it objectively and see if it really does need improvement or not. Having other people's opinion on the work is good, but with writing, people can look at it too... uh, critically --as a work rather than a form of art, I guess. "Work" isn't exactly the term I'm looking for, but I hope you kinda understand where I'm getting at.

I think as a writer we should remember why we write and why we want to improve as well. If it feels too work-based, it's probably just as bad as having it be too free-flowing. Does that make sense? *headfloor*

Aha, I don't know a think about poetry. I've written a bit before, but I don't think they really stand out.

Bleh, I think the test is terribly and purposely sexists. A number of the questions are like "if female."

I didn't feel butt hurt about it. The critiques were right. It was confusing and my characterization was horrible (it wasn't there, but it was exactly what I asked about; I feel so stupid for doing that.) I was just embarrassed I posted that as the first thing and only after realized how terrible it was and how incoherent. I know people won't remember me, but I still feel ashamed about it.

I think I know what you're saying. I really just want to improve on coherence. Otherwise, I pretty much just write for fun.

I would think that even if the critiques were right, it's not wrong to feel disappointed about it. I mean, sometimes we just aren't where we want to be yet, and that's not something easy to accept. It's because we know that that we want to try harder.

Yeah. I think that makes sense...

But do you think it would be a bad idea for me to try at that group again? I mean... if I post something I think makes sense and rip into it I'll feel even worse. I guess that is being butt-sore over something isn't it? I don't really know if I want to go back at all though. It was so diverse and big that it seemed kind of like... it was hard to know people or what they'd think... You know what I mean?

Well, something like that is up to you to decide; you would know yourself best. XD; I always feel iffy about writers and forums --many of the ones I've seen/been in have a bit of a snobby or elitist perspective/attitude.

Ah, true enough. I guess I should just stop thinking about it. It was kind of a experimental mishap anyway...

-poofs in- OMG I FINALLY FOUND MY FLASH DRIVE! 8D
I don't have to rewrite my chapter/story now -hugs it-

Well, on the subject of critiques, I'd have to tell you I'm a bit prideful...Well, I'm bipoler-mainly with art.
I'd draw something, and one minute I'll be like "This art is EPIC! I'm AWESOME!!!" Then I'll be like "This is the crappiest crap in the world, I can't show it to anyone." So I'd hate bad critique on art~

But with writing, I'm not as pridful, because my writing is more for fun. I'd love to improve, but not as much as I want to improve my art. But if I got a hateful remark, I'd probably go all out on whoever said it ;>>

@Nuke: *pats back*

@Webkinz: Congrats! I regularly let my brother borrow my USB. XD Nothing's really on it except for some homework and school assignments.

I'm less sensitive about my art; mostly because art isn't a strong point of mine's. I work hard on it, but it's not something I stress over too badly. Aha, I guess I'm opposite of you.
