Yes, I did hear something like that, I think it would make sense, if that is the point of having queen to uphold the genetic line of royals.

(I think we're mixing things up too much here, cultures depend on countries, I think it would be too much of a generalisation to say 'priests did this', or 'royals were like that')

There are some queens who just outright refused... Especially if they were the ones in power. Queen Elizabeth I famously built up the cult of the virgin queen and died childless (though you could easily doubt whether or not she was actually a virgin ).
