Kingdom of Knuffel

I got some mousse and some mineral powder foundation, some eyeliner (the same kind that I had before, I always liked that), a small eyeshadow pallette, new mascara and a contouring set - which seems to be just a lighter and a darker powder or something. That one is what I'm most unsure about, since I haven't used anything like it ever.

And yeah, Akili, it expires! I'm not too worried about powders and eyeshadows, those I will also keep the old ones, but my old mascara and eyeliners I think I'll throw out now. The mascaras all smell bad. I didn't even have any foundation anymore, I must have thrown that away at some point already.

I always figured it was like glitter. All minerals and what can go bad in that?

Yeah, that's what I think for the powdery stuff, too. But the liquid things like mascara can definitely go bad and that does make sense to me.

I wonder if markers (not make-up markers but actual writing-markers) can go bad too? They also have liquid and are coloring agents....

Well, they might, but if you just put them on paper and not on your skin it probably doesn't matter if they do, right?

Huh. Except you pick up paper all the time, so it gets on your skin indirectly... I wonder if handling lots of old ink is actually bad for you? Well, for really old ink you wear gloves anyway to protect the parchment, so I guess that solves itself!

I don't think it will go bad once it's dried, so the question might only be if your markers turned bad, you still used them after that, would handling the paper you used them on be bad? But you will get much less of the stuff onto you just from the transfer of the dried stuff on the paper compared to putting bad things directly onto your skin, so I wouldn't worry too much.

The makeup story that always scared me was that tale about how once upon a time they used to use lead to make white facepowder, and people would use it for years before they found out how bad it was.
