So she probably didn't care too much, then

She probably did, but she hated everything I did anyway. Even when I did things very well or came up with great new ideas she would be annoyed. Can't really win with someone like that.

People quit bosses, not jobs

It's very true. My partner is currently in a similar situation. He's going to take a job which is further away just to get away from his current boss.

Yeah, dad has a part-time job on top of his regular one right now
Said part time is already offering him a full-time position
He's saying $20/hour before he'll accept. He's waiting to see if they'll go up, to at least $15/hour
If they do, he'll leave his full-time job for that one. Less drama, and much closer

I quite my last job cuz of my manager. He was really selfcentered and sometimes I felt like a I had a better chance to make a wall listen to me that him. Good ridance! Best decision I made so far to quit that job.

I have a pretty good boss right now -- he's hardly ever in the office.
I have had some bad ones over the years, though. One that I had a long while back was very prone to micro-managing. I was fairly good at my job, but I would barely meet my deadlines. She would come to my desk two or three times a day to check on my progress. I'd have to stop what I was doing, explain to her how close to finished I was, then have to remember just what I was doing to get back to it. Then she was out for nearly a month because her son got sick. When she came back I was getting all of my work done days ahead of the deadline and asking for more work to do. She didn't bother me so much after that.
