That actually sounds like my mom's situation. She's been called this diminutive of her name, something you'd only call a child (Her name translates to Elisabeth, so let's say they called her something like Lissie or idk). But our whole family never stopped calling her that, even though she was 45 and they kept calling her that (as to differ the other Elisabeth in the family, grandma's sister, but that still doesn't justify it). So one day my mom got so put up with it she just told them to call her Elisabeth instead of that Lissie nickname. "I'm an adult, stop calling me like a child" and everybody was like "oh, no, we didn't mean it like that, it was because we have Bet alrady in the family, that's why" and she's like "well, I'm an adult, call me like an adult".
Did I mention my family is nuts? Well, there you have it, calling a grown up woman by her childhood name... that's offensive at some point.
Lol, I'm completely different, I showed the blood on my pajamas to Ash and he's like "aww, poor you, I'm sorry D:" XD Although that's his fault, he walked into the bathroom while I was discovering it...
and taking the period shit omg why did he come in? didn't even bother to knock x.x

I think I would explode if J came in while that was happening...
I'm definitely not at the level of sharing it with anyone XD
Pretty much the same, yep. Now J's parents call me by my high school nickname

Oh, I as ready to explode, but then my brain played all the times I walked on him without knocking and I was in super pain so, well, I let it go and just showed him what's happening.
This month is so rough I can't even...

I need a hug, but Ash's legs fell asleep and I can't really move around that much so... well... I wanna cry
I'm guessing there's no way to politely tell them to call you something else? x.x

Well, if you want to change it to your middle name you could reasonably start asking people to call you by that to see how you like it before changing it officially, no?
My family and my closest friends call me by my childhood nickname. I don't expect them to ever stop, my nieces effectively grow up knowing me by that name, but I don't mind at all. It's kind of nice to have this special name that only your loved ones use :)
Nobody uses my school nickname anymore, the friends I still have from school either switched to using the family nickname or use my full name now.
And oh no for the panties! I hate when that happens. I grew used to being walked in on and being okay with that over the course of my relationship. I used to always lock the bathroom door, but by now I don't even bother fully closing it anymore :D

I could probably ask them to call me by my full name, but they're so nice. And they seem to have such glee when they say it, as if they love the fact I let them use a nickname
I feel like they would be really shocked and embarrassed that I had let them call me that for so long.
I think it's one of those things I'll never be comfortable with. I usually lock the bathroom door when I'm home alone, even XD It took me over a year of living here before I considered not quite closing the door for the first time (and even then it was pushed almost closed, and no one was home, and it was just because I was in a hurry to get back to the kitchen and cook lol)

@Chriz: I tried that with Ash, but he didn't even try

Just kept calling me "honey" or whatever.
Well, my grandma keeps calling me by that childhood diminutive of mine. I hate it even then. I'm not a child anymore and it always really bugged me that she keeps doing that. Anyways, I think she's the only one to actually speak my name in order to catch my attention, everyone else is like avoiding it or something. Well, maybe my dad and his mom also call me by my name, but I kind of don't see them all that often.
I never even had a school nickname even. So well.
I do close my bathroom door, my grandma doesn't always and it bugs me XD I can only be that open with bf it seems.
@jacob: Well, then you have no choice, just learn to enjoy it XD
Try being so sick (or getting J so sick) that you can't go to the bathroom on your own. That helps XD Of course I'm kidding to get yourself/him taht sick, but for me it's been like, I had no problem with peeing with Ash in the bathroom, but then he got so sick from that pineapple once and I had to be there for him while poopy time and well, if you have to, what can you do, right?
But today I don't think he even realized he came at a very bad time (like not only bleeding

)

I'm glad I've never been that sick XD I even had extreme food poisoning for a few days at one point but I was like "I'm okay here in the bathroom, no one needs to disturb me" lol. (actually kind of funny, that was the weekend J and I got back together after our first break up, he was trying to play tough guy a bit still so he made me get the train home on my own instead of coming with me and then travelling back. Nearly died because I was so weak after the food poisoning and I had a suitcase to carry 8D)

3 years ago or so I would have written exactly this ;) Give it time :P :D But no, people are different. I think my bf was also actively trying to get me more comfortable with that stuff, since he was used to being a bit more relaxed in this regard and found it a bit weird and funny how I acted.
I still don't like it when the door is wide open, I pull it to an almost closed position usually ;)
Oh, and mem, with your grandma living with you as well, that is a very different situation. I wouldn't be this open with anyone but my bf either, so I completely get that.
jacob, that food poisoning story sounds pretty horrible!
Mh, my bf doesn't really call me by my name at all, and neither do I use his name much... We just call each other something like "honey" as well (not honey, but a german word).

Yeah, tell that to my grandma, whenever she takes too long with bathroom (an awful lot) and I knock to ask how long she'll take, she tells me I can come in and do my business, cause she doesn't mind...
Or when I do something like hang the laundry on the hangers (we use the ones that hang from the ceiling above the tub, Idk how familiar you are with these), so I leave the door open a bit, she can just walk in and sit on the toilet,a nd I'm like "grandma, could you?" like ask me to leave or knock at least, something?
She's like "what? I don't mind." Well, I do x.x So I leave then and close the door.
I sometimes call Ash by a short form of his name.
