*confetti rain* After so much time, it definitely deserves a confetti rain

Hahaha, that is so relatable :D
We managed to get a lamp for over our dinner table this summer after two years as well :D
Now we only have a bare lightbulb in the kitchen (where we have no plans to change it, it works fine like this and there's some cables dangling on the ceiling anyway because the crazy people who built this house thought it was fine to have power outlets only on one side of the kitchen...) and in my bfs room (where it's up to him to find the motivation to do something about it ;) )

Edit: Mind you, we didn't even have a bare lightbulb over the dinner table, since I was smart enough to realize that we'd never manage to buy a lamp if we had light there. We've been having candle light dinners for 2 years ^^

@Chriz: Okay, 2 questions, 1, your bf has a separate room? And 2, candle light dinners for 2 years?! I'm jealous and not at the same time XD

Well, it's his work room, where his desk is? I have a corner of the living room for my desk, he has a small room to himself.
We have a 3,5 room flat, which means 1 bedroom, 1 large room that is simultaneously dining room, living room and my workplace and 1 room that is his workplace (plus obviously bathroom and kitchen, which are not counted). This works out well for us, I like having the large room with lots of free space and light to myself mostly whereas he finds it really important to have his own space where he can close the door and be on his own. Call it a mancave if you will :D

And yeah, this also explains how the candle light dinners where feasible - we did have a lightbulb in the living room half of the room, just nothing in the dining room part. So it wasn't completely dark apart from the candles, just no light over the table ;)
