@Alice: I just picked it up at university, my minor was in history. At least, I think you're still asking about the Russian. If not, disregard. ^^

Yeah, I used to take classes, but I haven't been able to for a year or so. I'd very much like to take it back up once I get back into school, Russian is pure awesomeness.

Well, it's a curious language, but I can't say it's "better" that any other I've ever had to deal with. I really like English, German and Hebrew. Though I know really little of the first and even less of the second. I've been studying English for many-many years before I realized that I love this language and don't want to live without it's presence in my life. However now I'm more German and Hebrew oriented. If I may say so.
.. . Are you going to connect Russian with your career or learning it just for fun? And, oh, in case you need any language practice, I'm at your service! ;)

Heheh, I may need your help indeed...I should have been taking German also in university, but I indulged myself and took Japanese instead...the Russian is sort of going to be related to future, I want to eventually have a PhD in History, which means reading source documents in their original language. I'm interested in Central Europe and Russia, so that means a lot of German...and Slavic languages...

.. . I've studied for one year at the university (English, general Germanistic, Genral linguistic and literature - more general things that I wanted) and the decided to change my area. When leaving the English gymnasium I was sure that I'm going to sacrifice my entire life to English, but have changed my mind after about a year of studies. I decided to sacrifice it to Yiddish. So I'm heading to Germany to study German, general germanistic and linguistic and literature... And then I'll try too get into the Uni with the Germanistic faculty and an addtional Yiddish department and get a BA there. And head for Israel to get an MA there. Long story... Currently having a "year off".

But an interesting story nevertheless! Sounds like you've got an interesting road ahead of you. ^^
I admit, I have extreme coat envy too. Though I don't envy having to deal with the sorts of things that had to get thrown against the back of that coat that turned it into what it is...knowing my luck, it would probably turn against me and eat my hand off.
