I failed miserably at the written part of my French exam back in the day. We had to write an essay on a particular subject, but we didn't know about which one before we went in, we had a list of 20 or so to prepare. The first question was about wind power and how important it is in France, and I couldn't keep the statistics in my head so I got a D. The second one after I retook the exam, was about how important France's smoking ban was for the rest of Europe. I couldn't even answer that in English. Managed to raise my level to a C that time but all my other scores were A or A+. It ruined my grade :qcry: #stillbitter

I can totally feel you :(
There are things I still think about from school, too.

Mem, I'm always reachable by PM if you need some one-to-one advice from a rat lover, or just a sounding board for ideas about the rat stuff. I really want to help with this situation if I can, giving away would be tough (for both you and for the ratties who are probably still developing their socialisation too, if they're young).
I have had rats in the past, but am currently helping my sister's rat family grow. She has three young females, and adoped two male rats from a rescue a few months back too. She dotes on them so she is my rat expert <3

I hugely recommend getting a run. The reason rats need such a large area is because they are incredibly prone to boredom, which can manifest in over-grooming and self harm and all kinds of aggressive tendencies. Chewing is a sign of it, too. It can be expensive/messy but rats need LOTS of active toys and bits and pieces to mess with, and these toys need to be regularly changed so nothing gets old (you probably know this but I'll add it to discussion in case others in chat don't know xD).

With enough entertainment within a run (even just 1.5m square space, or on top of a bed) two rats shouldn't need the bigger space - though lots of owners prefer it when they're able to provide because rats are natural parkour lovers, haha.
And even with big areas, I still believe many owners prefer to enclose around the area anyway, for the same reasons you've experienced - it prevents them getting on furniture, getting up walls and to window-sills and things. It is also a LOT safer as it reduces risk of ingesting something bad, since rats experience stuff by chewing it.

Sorry if I'm word-vomiting :mcblush:
I know you already know this stuff, mem, because I've seen you talk about your ratties on here <3. Just hoping I can help with any small bits of advice I can provide, I suppose..

@Nyuu: Ah, I'm not much into hip hop myself, but I bet it's refreshing :D

@Julez: Well, my questions are mostly something like "what kind of exercises did you have?" or "what does a phonological English test looks like?" XD

@jacob: I don't have any memories of that sort. I mostly remember things like me getting late to Polish, not out of my own fault, and barely. I literally was runing to the class and saw the teacher close the door. But she had that rule that once she closes the door, she won't let anyone in. So I knocked, didn't dare to step in, was panting. She was aready reading the name list (my name being the first), and she looks at me and says "well, look who showed up, sleeping beauty :mcmeh: " I tried to explain my delay and she's like "charming story, truly :mcmeh: " I'm like, waiting for her to say if I can come in or not, and she says "what are you waiting for? sit down already :mcmeh: " I'm like "thank you :qoops: :qoops: :qoops: "
She was a cyborg :mcdead: Funny enough, next year we went on a school trip with her, and she was like... making normal conversations and jokes and we were all like... so... Ms. Bolek has a soul?! :mcomg: :mcomg: :mcomg:
She was a great teacher tho, I can't say she wasn't.

@Feb: Thank you hon, I appreciate it :qh:
I know we're in need of the run, but as I mentioned previously somewhere, my space is really limited. The 1,5 square meters you mentioned? That's all the space I have in the room to walk :mcargh: I had some The bed won't do, they can't stay on it (mobile little devils), and if I had to put the run on the bed... well, it's a sofa, so I'd have to keep it unfolded all day, and it wouldn't make the living space easier... Right now I'm managing them somehow, they've been decent these two days, I just need to get some protection for the cables. If I can do that, nothing else will be as bad :mcargh:
Althoug... Cotton did steal my good nail file today... and I can't find it anywhere though I heard it hit something... ;>n> That's what happens if you listen to your boyfriend and start doing his nails while the rats are running :mcmeh:
Yeah, we should also invest in some more toys :mcdead: Aaah, so much stuff to do for those two XD

Ahh, okay, that gives me an idea

Aww, that's understandable D: I can see your art shop in your siggy, how about adding the other two of your threads as well? That way if you post somewhere, people have the chance to know of their existence :mccute:
