Tam: Let me see your Trisphee avatar u8

DC: Coco was really good. The story and characters and the colors and everything.
And the thing about Dia de Muertos or Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead - is it's a positive thing.
People hear the name and think it's sad and dreary and black and gray and it's not.
It's supposed to be a good day. A day for getting together and remembering people you lost and praying for them and stuff.
And I think they did a good job capturing it in Coco.

I loved Wreck it Ralph x3
I haven't seen the second one, though.

I agree - I think Pocahontas had a positive impact on young girls who were also Native American. I didn't see many Native American things in tv and stuff except for old westerns where they were perceived as enemies Bu
And people hate the movie saying "This makes Native Americans look like weirdos because Pocahontas talks to a TREE! That's so offensive!"
Native Americans respected nature. They loved the earth. The movie showed how she loved the earth and was one with it. WE KNOW TREES CAN'T TALK. WE'RE NOT DUMB - it's FANTASY Bu
I know I'm not 100% Native American, but I do have a lot of Native American blood running through my veins.
I also know I don't speak for everyone, but to me personally - I'm not offended.

Dammit I missed her while she was on u8<

https://www.trisphee.com/forums/avatars ... 1542760058 I was going to change her outfit, then I looked and realized I really like this one. Some of her tatts are showing on her arm and through the yoke of her top, and she's wearing her unicorn horn and tail. XD And her stompy boots.

What is the hairstyle? I thought it was just short but it looks like a braid at the top 8u

She wears a braid wrapped around her head like a crown. Just like the one here usually does.

@Tam: Tell me what you think. I'll work on the clothes soon.
PD colored

@Moi: Sorry. Had to make sure Joslyn's books and ipad for school were in her book bag then had to get her ready for bed.

I know what Dia de los Muertos is. I never thought it to be sad and depressing. I was taught at an early age about it. I had a few Hispanic friends.

Good! Then Coco will definitely be a need to watch soon. Wreck it Ralph looks so good. I want to see the second.

Exactly. Pocahontas isn't has bad as they complain.

I'm not 100% either. I'm not offended. It takes more than that to offend me.

I'm on!

Tam: I'm almost done sketching her and I'll show it to you and you tell me what needs changing 8u
The issue with me drawing avatars is that I can't always understand the items being used.
Like if something is a piercing or makeup and stuff like that u8

DC: Is okay :3

Someone in my family heard my sister was interested in Day of the Dead and got pissed off and yelled at my sister for liking dark and horrible things because it'll mess up her depression.
She didn't even know what she was talking about =__=
My sister doesn't have the same dad as me so she and my mom's side aren't Mexican.

The little dog in Coco reminds me so much of my Saya. Just seeing the dog made the movie even cuter for me xD
I saw Wreck it Ralph in a theater...I think a dollar theater.
I really liked it and we got it on DVD and then lost the DVD because stuff goes missing in my room for some reason Bu

If anything, watching the movie as a kid and hearing people complain made me want to learn about the real Pocahontas. I remember writing a report on her in 5th grade 8u

I always worry when I chime in on Native American stuff, I'll get told I'm not full blooded and that I don't belong.
No one's ever told me that, but it lurks in the back of my mind.
My dad also wanted me to join this group of people who are mixed, but are proud to be Native American.

@Moi: Seriously, people need to learn about the Day of the Dead. I'm not Hispanic, but even I know what it's about.

Awww!
Maybe you have a Bermuda like triangle in your room.

I learned about the real Pocahontas too because I wanted to know who she really was.

So far no one has told me that either. But yeah, you never know what others will say.

I actually see more and more people showing interest in it. Especially around Halloween - I see people using decorations and making costumes and makeup inspired by it.
The local grocery store had some cute figurines out for Halloween last year.
And I could say "My culture isn't a costume/decoration!" but I like that people are taking interest in it.
It may start at decorations and costumes, but people will learn about it.
I got interested in Japan at first because of anime and manga and it lead to me learning more about the country and its history and its people.
You gotta start somewhere 8u

I've joked with people that there's a portal in my room.
I've had so many things that had no right to leaving my room just disappear.
Like my tablet pen - my drawing tablet is at the computer in my room. There's no reason for the pen to leave my room. Yet it disappeared and I never saw it again 8u
To my surprise, people have told me they've experienced the exact same thing xD
It's gotta be something >8u

Pocahontas and Joan of Arc - those are the two I wanted to do reports on when I was a kid.

My dad was talking to a guy who told him he doesn't know what it's like to be treated badly by racists.
My dad said he's a halfbreed and knows racism pretty good.
I know people on my mom's side always talked shit about him and always used racist terms for Mexicans and they'd insult him in front of me.
I had to hear my mom's side be racist to my dad.
And my mom told them they're talking about me too because I'm also Mexican ._.

I love how her eyes shine, DC. And her skin tone is perfect. Is there a way for her to have any dark green tattoos on her lilac skin?

Moi, the spot on the side of her nose is a purple stud, and she's wearing earrings. She hasn't got makeup on except some black mascara.

I've got enough Native American from three different tribes to be Metis, Cherokee, or Iroquois. People are like, "You should register and be treaty!" And I won't. I don't think the modern treaty system does anyone any good. And here where I live right now I'm embarrassed by how pushy the Native Americans seem to be. They're all like "DON'T APPROPRIATE OUR CULTURE!" And I'm like, "...I won't. I won't buy any of your crafts and I'll stay far away, because you make me feel like you're judging me and mocking me for being weird, and I don't wanna be appropriating your stuff." People are people, but man, I have better luck talking to black people than I do to Native Americans. And better luck talking to Latin people, and Filipino people, and Ukranian people, and...
