I feel like I have way too much to do. Right now things are settled down. But don't know for how long.

I'm used to it.

Fun. I don't mind babysitting my nieces and nephews, but no one else's. I did once and the mom never paid me and she would take longer than what she said to come back for the kiddos.

Apparently it's a widespread thing, DC. They've done tests with little kids and dolls of different colours. And even the little black kids were pointing to the black doll and saying that's the bad doll.

Weird.

I need references of the tattoos you want. I'm coming up blank. And how am I going to add birds to the ribs when the ribs are covered with boobs?

Media's part of it too. You see the girls in movies and cartoons that are supposed to be beautiful and they're usually fair with delicate features. When every time someone who is supposed to be 'pretty' looks completely different from you, and you don't see anyone in media who's 'pretty' and who also looks like you... well then nobody needs to TELL you that you're ugly. You internalise it.

There was this viral video of this little girl. She's so little that she shouldn't have had these thoughts already. But children are observant. Black women celebs responded to it and everything but the thing is... you can tell someone they're pretty but if the whole rest of the world is hinting that they aren't pretty, they won't believe you. Or they won't feel pretty. The world doesn't need to tell you you're ugly, all the world needs to do is point out that those who are pretty are those who don't look like you.

I wonder if that's why I find ladies who look like Mrs. Trump frightening. I'm not even exaggerating.

Bother. I'm trying to watch church on Zoom (and watch Linda Randall sing. SHE'S a beautiful lady), and the neighbour's decided the floor above my head needs cleaning just right now.
