Oh my, that must be frustrating to have your fandom adapted in such an unfaithful way that gives such bad representation :(

myeah but the new movie is by someone else and looks far more promising, and most of us have always been more comic and cartoon favoured c':

it was bad though, to say you're a Transformers fan and have people immediately assume you meant the Bay movies. Cause even for non-fans they're already bad/superficial plot explosion fodder haha

Well, then I hope yor you all that the new movie will be a satisfying experience :)

Yeah, must be annoying to have the name of your fandom mostly associated with a bunch of bad movies for people on the outside...

Do you know, I actually recognize the name "Michael Bay", and only because I have heard so many people complain about his movies?
Has he actually done any GOOD ones, and if not, why does he keep getting hired?

He's good at action movies with little plot and big explosions. Which is fine for a classic 'hero saves the day by going berserk on the bad guys, watch him conquer!' kind of movie where you just switch off your brain and enjoy the gunfights and one-liners, fun.

When its a beloved fandom with loved characters being dumbed down to fit into that very narrow shallow genre, not so much fun. He also really noticeable knew little about Transformers...really had some bad characterizations going on, stupid mistakes like wrong colours/names just cause he obv didn't care enough...

And cause he didn't care much for the robots, he made movies about Transformers where the bigger roles still went to humans with forced relationships etc and nobdy ever likes those things in any kind of movie c':

So... he is good at what he does, but what he does is not movies like the Transformers needed. Wait, does he do the James Bond movies? Because those always sound a lot like how you describe the movies he makes.

He made Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and the Purge movies and the like ;o

I haven't heard of any of those (as movies. I have heard of the first two as non-movie concepts or events).

I guess there are a lot of movies like that, though.

What's the movie equivalent of a penny dreadful?

Well you can picture the entire plot just from the title and my earlier description so it saves you the trouble of seeing those at least ;P

ha ha ha, that's probably a good thing, I can check off a few more! :D


So what got you into the transformers fandom? Was it sort of a gradual liking for the franchise grew on you, or was there a scene or a character or a particular comic that really made you a fan?
