.. . Morning, Mika! I can't believe it's 24th already... June is soon...
.. . Hi, Rumors! I like your drawings! What do you think about the shipping "ms.Nobody & mr.The Coolest Guy in the World"? Do you find it boring or exciting? Have ever noticed that the author provides thereaders with no reason for mr.Cool to love ms.Nobody? And that she is sometimes created a completely worthless being who is not just a misunderstood poor soul but is also not a good person at all?

.. . Genders really don't matter. There could be any. I used mr. and ms. just to define. .. . I always wonder what makes people give up hetero get interested in homo fictions. To me it really makes no difference, but I know many who prefer homo over hetero. What is so charming and specific about it?

In real life it makes no difference to me, in a sense, as long as the couples are happy --same with a number of books that I read. Movies can go either way (since the women seem more stereotypical in them), but the worse het. ships are probably in role-plays and amateur fiction (original and fanfics).
I think I'm coming off as a broken record, but I've only met a handful of extraordinary/interesting female characters, and knowing myself, I'm the type who's skeptical of most things and difficult to impress when it comes to written works. Most of the female characters I've met via RP make me want to dash my head against the wall, or at least avoid as much contact as possible. "Uke" boy too, similarly. It's something about needing someone in order to be complete --that utter lack of pride or ambition that doesn't revolve around chasing some romantic interest.
I like girls who are a more confident in who they are, who have a bit of spunk to them, and have a few unladylike flaws. XD I like Lina Inverse (from what I remember of her anyways) from Slayers and Celty from Durarara.

.. . Haha, that's why I always liked eveil female characters in the movies and cartoons when I was a child! I don't know why they were given such miserable reasons to be what they are like beauty or love, but I always liked their pover, self-respect, determination. Not that I justify their actions (trying to kill Show White is baaaaad), but they have always seemed so bright to me compared with goody-goody and often really plain "good" characters (Snow White is a dull brainless dummy who's able to sleep with any appealing necrophiliac). .. . I guess females are just more afraid to stay alone. Things like "I'm old in 23 I will never find a man". At least this is what I hear from people around. But it may be only this country. XD .. . Perhaps people writing female characters are more afraid to be honest and admitt that she can't be always week or always cold? We're coming to the "sue question" again, see - making characters dead through the whole story.

Hm, I actually don't remember many evil female characters that I liked when I was a kid. Could you name some of your own to give me a few ideas?
Uh, I think Snow White's personality came with the times. That movie is frickin' old. XD
Actually, I suspect that a good number of people who play female/uke roles in RP do so because they feel weak and helpless in live and want the comfort of a strong character (even if in a story) that will tell them that everything will be okay. In short, they want a knight in shining armor that will fix things for them, that will tell them what to do and take the lead. I'm not saying that this is the case for every female/submissive character, but it's a recurring pattern I see.
Since writing is for the writer's pleasure, the person writing about their character wants satisfaction from their writing and live through their characters. This varies in different degrees and extremities and purpose..

Snow White, along with quite a number of old Disney classics go portray their main female characters that way. Partly because of the fairy tales themselves, which go back even older still. Their behaviour of what we see in those movies were what was 'acceptable' women behaviour then, so it reflects in there.
As the time progress, so do the characteristics of the female leads. *points at Pocahontas and Mulan*
As for the re-occuring pattern of those kind of characters in RPs, what Mika said is right, for me. It's not true for all, of course, but in a way these characters reflect on their players as well at times, even if sub-consciously. Players who tend to write those type of characters are young people who grew up under their parent's wing, so they still seek that sort of protection in their minds, or alternately, felt that they are lonely in their life so they seek someone else intensely to share their life with, if you get what I mean? Of course, again, it differs, but I am observing from my experiences reading through the RP forums. x3

.. . That's probbly because there are more male villians... Or not? I always remember the lines "Magic mirror in my hand, who's the fairest in the land" from our school play. I wanted to be the evil queen and was telling everyone that she so independent! XD Plus she was a witch! I used to play Diablo II or Dungeon Keeper and imagine stories about daily life of those evil creatures. Evil somehow gave me more space for storytelling than good. It's always easy and understandable with good characters. The prince saves the princess because he loves her, the hero saves the world because he's the hero, the girl is loved by all creatures and flowers because she is kind. But why is it so important for Malificent to be the fairest in the land? Why didn't Aurora's parents invite the Evil Fairy to the girl's birthday? Didn't they know what can it cause? Are they poor politicians? How could they expect the Fairy to act any different? Why did Ursula agreed to help Ariel if she is so evel as they show us? Could not she get what she wanted without al that if she's so poverful? .. . I don't know why I could remember only disney characters. XD Sorry. XD But it is about other editions too. .. . Actually I don't have any questions to these characters as parts of mythology. All fairy tails are based on it and are a good reflection of how people of those times saw the relations between men and women and between each other in general. Here it's ok. But I find many questions to these characters as cliches and patterns for other characters. When they are part of ancient tribes' world-view - it's perfect. When they are independent characters of independent novels, movies, computer games with plot development - I start asking and at this point villians appear far more interesting. This may be because we try to explain the cruelty but are sure that kindness does not need any reason. While I believe it needs.
