@DK: I don't know how you go about it where you live, but here in Nebraska we have a thing called PAS, Personal Assistance Services. I suggest calling Medicaid about Personal Assistance Services or whatever the equivalent is. You and your mom would have to explain that you care for her and that she doesn't want to go to a nursing home, but you don't want a stranger taking care of her either and see what you options are. Hopefully they has a system that pays you to care for her.

I looked into that when you first mentioned it to me a few years back. We had it and then they got rid of it.

Yea still gone. Too many people abused their charges while getting paid to 'care' for them. It's why they make the elderly go to nursing homes.

Too bad you can't move here.
