Ewokette, what was your guess, again?

Sorry guys, I was a bit busy just now!
Ewokette was right, it is indeed Gamora :) I just recently saw the second movie.

Also yes to confusing title changes. You know what's the worst? When they don't even bother to make a german title, but instead of keeping the original, they make a different title up that's still english. Like, what the hell? Why? I've seen that happening to quite a few movies lately.

That really doesn't make any sense at all! What are they thinking?

I have no clue! I was thinking maybe they want to use simpler vocabulary so that people are more likely to understand it, but that doesn't really seem to be it. Sometimes the title actually gets longer and more complicated. I really got no idea.

So who decides these things? Marketing divisions of the major production companies? An in-country distributing house? Maybe it's someone trying to lay some claim to, "I was involved in XYZ movie!" But really all they did was change a title before it went to a different country?

/always suspicious that egos are involved when silly things happen

It's probably the people that are also responsible for translating the text of the movie? I mean, that does get translated after all... But then again, more likely it's some marketing team of the local distributors or something... But yeah, I get your suspicion, I don't think there is any chance there's a sensible reason...

As for you doing book characters - maybe you could just google the names of books you'd like to do and see if there's a movie version? Then you could just work off pictures of it to make it more easy to recognize. And you can still use your knowledge about the character and world for things they hold in their hand and the like.

OOoh that's a great idea! Plus this way I might find some neat movies to watch.

Well, that's a bonus of course! :)
Looking forward to what you come up with, I have a feeling I might have better chances knowing the characters you do than some of the more anime and video game heavy phases of this thread :)

Fortunately anyone can guess, with the questions-and-answers and being able to search.
