cattails give off fluff o3o it flied around a lot here makes it look like snow. When I was little we'd wave the cattails around, forcefully releasing the fluff

you can use it as kindling or as a pillow stuffing apparently. o3o

the other parts are edible, and can be pickled .. the roots can be turned to flour or starch.

Ahhh. Never seen it travel that much, though I grew up out in the bush, and right next to a dugout full of them during the last part of my teenage years. Doesn't mean I wasn't wrong. LOL

I think there's a patch growing not far from us. We're not too far from a river... stream.. whatever peeps wanna call it.

those are after they've matured and ended their life cycle. you have to cook and eat them when younger like in spring/summer. Fall/Winter is when you harvest the roots for starch and flour ovo

that and your suppose to cook them like corncobs before eating o3o, dunno if you can eat that part raw

I see I'm going to have to grab a cattail sometime and play with it. Those explosions look disgusting but fascinating.
