Hart- I was just thinking maybe that would be it, since you were asking about RP stuff earlier. ^_^; That doesn't seem exactly OC related I suppose.
I'm not sure which of my characters to write about. I started listing them, but I have two pages in word now and I've only listed 7 characters... How do you guys decide which characters to write about for these things?
*Well, I know I write about my main three a lot, so maybe I'll drop some lines about Shin Knee *feels like writing about him*. He's an anaconda naga with few "flaws" per se. He's very serious and responsible. He likes routine and doesn't like goofing off, though that's pretty much all his employees do (he's a manager for a pawn/junk shop.) He's pretty patient, but when he snaps, he loses it and he'll attack and constrict around his "prey"- sometime in the midst of rage he'll get the wrong person. People usually calm him down before he kills anyone, but he's broken many a bone. He has more pride than may be necessary and he doesn't like being challenged about his behavior by anyone (unless it was undeniably bad, like attacking the wrong person), but his girlfriend- who's a green tree snake naga.

@Lunar: Aha, don't worry, it won't be long until I'm the same. Good luck with all your projects!
Even though you feel like the term isn't quite right, isn't it one that could be used for real people as well? Real people have flaws and imperfections, so it would make sense to say the same of a character.
@Nuke: I tend to narrow my topics down a little more than general RP conversations, but we might talk about RPing as a semi-topic in the future. Just wasn't sure which aspect of it you were looking for.
I generally pick my favorite OCs for my topic, or one that best suits it. While looking through the list of flaws last night, I came across "abusive" and was instantly reminded of my OC, Jake. He's not physically abusive --doesn't exactly have the means to be, but he's pretty awful in the emotional and psychological sense. It was fun writing with him. XD
Does Shin Knee listen to his girlfriend more because he trusts her or value her opinion, whereas he could care less about others'?

Ah, I guess I should be more careful about what I post. I didn't mean to suggest or imply anything. I don't really know what aspect either. I was just kind of mentioning it for conversation sake. I guess there is a lot to consider about an RP. Sorry about that.
Hm, I guess I've mentioned before that I don't really have favorites. It's hard to pick favorites for me. None of the OCs I've been writing about recently are ones I've been working on or playing a lot though.
Yes, Shin definitely trusts his girlfriend more. He also loves her and she loves him, so he knows if she's saying it, it must be so. She doesn't tend to coddle him, she's pretty down to earth (ironically.) For some people, like his lazy, careless employees, he doesn't care what they think. For others, like his parents or her parents, he just doesn't like being challenged.

My favourite OC is Christina Braverman, whom I consider my first OC. There was that angel story I mentioned before but I really don't count that. She's pretty one-dimensional, seeing as how I wrote the story when I was 15, but I'm still pretty proud of her and she's based on a girl I really admired back then.

@Zia- awe, that's sweet though- that you based her off a girl you admired.
I wish I could remember all the OCs I made way back when... Mikko and Nuke- though they've been revamped many times- were probably among my first OCs. I also had foxboys and mermaids and such. I would still consider them my OCs and I've revamped some of them.
I don't have favorites, but there are certain ones I have more fun playing at a certain time than others. Right now I'm really enjoying playing this character I'm calling Autumn (names change a lot- I'm not good at naming). He's technically male, but he likes to cross-dress and gets into a lot of trouble because of that. He just likes being pretty sometimes, but he doesn't think he's a woman and he isn't homosexual- though I haven't really explored that part of his character yet. He's timid and sometimes makes himself so nervous he'll vomit. He enjoys flatter and flirting when he's all dressed up. I'm pretty sure he has a lot of flaws, if not flawed in every way. I don't consider his cross-dressing a flaw, but it's not socially acceptable to his time and place. Only one of his family members will even put up with it and house him and she finds his cross-dressing just as unacceptable and upsetting- though she'll tolerate it.
I'm also playing a lowlife, street elf. He's a "talker," he likes to provoke people, say terrible things and manipulate people and situations. He acts like he finds everything amusing and I've had people PM and comment on how annoying he is, but he's a fun character. It seems like some people find him annoying and some people like him. He's very much a trickster.

Heheh, thank you.
I don't count any of my OCs from before then, actually, now that I think about it. Most of the stories I've written before that was chock full of Sues, anyway. And not even the good kind.

mika: fuuuuu... summer is so close yet so far >.<
erm... i see flaws adn imperfections as two different terms. flaws like started earlier i see as refering as something unfinished or still in need of work usually from an error made in development. that its not right yet and needs improvement. imperfections i see as it is complete, just not perfect. but more as something as well that cant really be changed that much. a flaw can be changed an edited as progress continues.
think of a program. when your making one theres gonan be flaws as you try to "PERFECT IT" and you tinker with those flaws until they are non existent anymore. so in a sense flaws are temporary adn can ultimatly be fixed since they are errors you ran into.
In imperfection, its just describing something that isnt perfect and can or cannot be changed depending on the values that affect it. like say if someone has a crooked nose. its an imperfection and usaully permanent unless like.. they haev plastic surgery or somerhing. its not a flaw bcs the design wasnt an error, they are just that way.
undertand where im getting at?
and this is lnts nonsense logic that may or may not make sense of the day => with spelling errors~

Zia- I see. Well, I think everyone is like that when they start off, especially at a younger age. I know my characters were like that. I cringe when I think of how I made some of my characters. I even wrote a Zelda fanfic when I was younger and Link fell in love with my angelic female character, though she doesn't love him back- though even before her I had a more Sueish character who was with Link. *so embarrassing*
I didn't think a lot about development and flaws, it came as I got older and started to consider their backgrounds. Character history is essential to my main characters, it determines a lot of their behavior and ideas. Characters like Mikko, Nuke and Morris have extensive, detailed histories and family turmoil. Idelle's (people's [they're futanari/bisexed incubus]) have a kind of hilarious history.
Shin grew up with a pretty average family though. Nothing tragic happened to him, he's the oldest- so his personality kind of reflects his stable up-bringing and his temper and pride are just kind of innate or developed.
Lunar- I can kind of see what you mean, but literally a flaw isn't incomplete. It's defined in the dictionary as an imperfection (— n
1. an imperfection, defect, or blemish)
and I've always understood it to be so.
An imperfection in programming is kind of different, because programming isn't meant to have a personality or be dynamic. A program is logical like math. There's one right answer. Characters aren't like that- they're subjective, emotional and always changing- at least they should be if they're like people.
