man.. kurt vonnegut is wonderful. and jrr tolkein is magical albeit wordy. I also really like terry pratchet. jk rowling is really nice too.

I'd have to say Brent Weeks. He wrote the Way of Shadows Trilogy. I love that his characters aren't perfect. Plus he has a way of making his fantasy world more real and relatable

My sort of holy trinity of authors is William Gibson, Philip K. Dick, and China Mieville. If they wrote it, I will read it. They're pretty interesting people as well, which is always a bonus.
Besides them, I've got several more favorites including George R.R. Martin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Haruki Murakami, Ray Bradbury, Robert Heinlein, and Isaac Asimov.

I dont even really like Horror, but Darren Shan writes such good storys <3
not sure which of his series I like best... but at the moment I am looking forward to the 4. and last book of the saga of Larten Crepsley ^^
