You're only competing against yourself, so whatever you decide the rules are is fine :)

I've never counted academic stuff before because it was more of an obstacle to reading than a part of it. so I'm hesitant. I think I need to split my reading lists into fiction and academic reading XD

...now actually this sounds like a good idea... and maybe reading X papers should unlock 1 work of fiction... so I'd stay motivated to work with the academic list... oooooh!!! XD

Feel free to tell us about what you read throughout the year, Nixiefae!

Yes, splitting them up would work too! Last year I had a main reading goal, then I split it up into mini goals. Like, reading books that I own but have ever read. :mccute:

That's definitely a good idea. I'm not splitting up my list per se, only mentally, but my first goal is definitely to get through the giant pile of books I have waiting by my bed XD I'm also trying audiobooks as I don't usually listen to books, but it's a good use of my time when I'm using my eyes but don't need to concentrate too much, like when I'm doing graphic design.

that reminded me of a makeup project out there: you think of what categories your makeup, now books, fall under. for instance you could have categories like audiobooks, paperbacks, ebooks, sci-fi, romance, adventure, books you own, books released in a specific year, books you can check from a library, books that are/were really hyped, books about dragons, books written by women, poetry books, books with stunning covers, books you got as presents, secondhand books, the list goes on: genre, setting, author, protagonist, medium, whatever you can come up with really, provided you have at least one book with that parameter.

then you assign numbers to categories and draw one. so if you get 7 and it was a number for "released in 2015", you choose a book from that category. you can also draw multiple numbers and end up with "released in 2015", "graphic novel", "characters of color", "contemporary" and you look for a book that matches most of those criteria. you may find one that'd match 3 of those or maybe you end up with two books both matching only two categories simultaneously, then you choose the one you're more excited about.

I just came up with all of this based on a makeup rotation challenge, omg XD

but it requires you to categorize all your books first. or at least most of them.

Well I haven't really read that many books this year, I've read a few odd n end books that I got for free from the Kindle store on Amazon. I would like to try and finish reading the Vampire Academy series and the Immortal Instruments series as well.

If your looking for a way to track the books you've read etc, you could join Goodreads. It's very useful! I think you can even make reading goals/challenges and it'll keep track of he books you've read or something like that.

I've not used it personally but I use everything else on the site.
