I had never thought of it, but since Neith mentioned it I've started considering it like a great idea.
And we can actually do something completely different, if that pleases us.
It does not have to be a contest in the sense of this thread, it could be something else - so we still have use for both threads!

Yep, that's true.
But I personally like having some reference threads which I can add to my bookmarks. Sometimes I don't check other threads at all, only the ones I regulary post in.

Sorry I was travelling the last couple of days so I did'nt reply,
I'm ok to be the first host if you want to participate in a challenge Amura ;))

I finally decided to create something different, not a contest kind of thread.
Just a 1 to 1 challenge which works the same way as the avatar games - but requires creating an avatar.
I'm not sure whether that's gonna work, maybe nobody wants to post but if people like it then we'll have a challenge avaliable at any time
It could certainly move faster than a weekly contest, specially since we are having trouble finding people to host.

So Neith, if you still feel like hosting a weekly challenge, please do so here in this thread.
I would certainly participate in it too!

I think your format is cool btw, and your rules+deadline fit the current state of this thread.
So I'm definetely joining. Just let me think which color I should choose!

OK, this was quite challenging.
Since we can't use anything at all in other colors we should be also using a skin in whatever color we choose - and the skin color is a big deal for me when I create avatar!

Even going for "monochrome" I wanted to make something with contrast, so I chose four different purple colors: Bright Berry (the brighter one), Violet and Amethyst (both medium) and Midnight Purple (the darker one).
I'm quite happy with the result
But since we can make two entries, I'll probably try another day with a monochome avatar in which colors blend.

Loving this contest, I'm hoping many people join!

Alright, I can't tell if I've succeeded or not.
Is this skin tone sufficiently reddish?

Yeah, skin is always a bit tricky for monochrome, there's no all that many shades and sometimes they're really super hard to match so I think it's okay as long as it doesnt stand out too much from the rest :)

If you're talking about your ava though Aki, marroon+that skin is okay but the orange doesn't really belong. I dunno if it was about a "work in progress" or if the question extended to the full avatar
