I'm not fond of the new ape, but I must admit I was not a fan of the old one either.
I think I liked the Pirate Hat better in the old colors, but still I had to go for it as it's not an item you see for sale often ^^

Most users don't like the new pirate items.

Well, I don't dislike them, but I admit I liked more the old version.
