Aha, sure, I can try it... but honestly, I dislike most otome characters [male and female] because they are heavily stereotyped.

It's hard to find any series in games and anime/manga that doesn't have an absurdly stereotypical cast. *facepalm* It's part of the reason I stopped reading/watching as much of the latter.

A bit of stereotype is okay here and there, however; there's a lot of that going on in GSNK, but it's mostly for parody purposes, aha.

xD;; I don't really like otome games for the same reason I don't really like shoujo manga.

@Spica: *high-fives* Same! Although I understand and respect that different people have different tastes, and I acknowledge that in my own interests, sometimes I like things that could be perceived as foolish, I definitely do not like the majority of shoujo manga/anime and chick-flicks.

What I especially dislike about them are the recurring themes that a woman's life and ideals so largely revolve around men. That so many are willing to change themselves and their identities to better suit or appeal to their love interests.

This is one reason I quit het RPs... I found female characters to be just too... sad. But every now and then, I meet a writer or an artist who goes against such limitations; I meet folks who are able to write realistic female characters who are actually interesting and it really impresses me.

I tend to create male characters myself, but recently, I've begun to consider the idea of making a female character, and in doing so, to better consider and refine my own thoughts and opinions of women.

I'd also like to say that even though GSNK is shoujo, it is excellent. I was drawn to it because I'd seen gifs floating around tumblr, and when I was browsing manga and came across it, I gave it a shot. No regret, aha!

Claymore is good too, for a female-centric manga. It's not shoujo, and for what it is, it is excellent.

Ah guys but otome games arent all like that. Some dont even have romance otions just friends. Some are so well written and they got some nice plot and amazing character development. And build a whole woorld around them. They are more focused kn romance but the good ones always have a good ending where you dont have to romance anyone! But yes 50% of all otome games are awful.

BUT I WILL DEFEND THE GOOD ONES TO DEATH. LOL guys dont think km upset I though ths was gonna be funny. I actually cant stand generic shoujo

@Kae: Shoujo manga is cute. Nothing wrong with that.

@Errisa: Aha, I believe you. If a thing can be done poorly, then it also can be done well. I don't mean to say all of any genre [shoujo manga or otome games] are bad, but my opinion on the majority of them aren't so good.

My brother is actually very different from me in the fact that he actually likes otome-like games [although I can't remember what they're called, he actually played some games on his 3DS where you can pair up the characters]. His best friend also likes Ouran, which I find to be hilarious, but in a good way.

I don't like Ouran at all, but it's not really in line with my interest or sense of humor. Whenever someone asks me who my favorite character is, I tell them it's Kasanoda and that kills the conversation, pfft. [I watched the entire Ouran upon recommendation, btw. The same person also recced Haruhi, but I quit that after the first five minutes. *facepalm*]

I'm not a romance-type person, but I like brotherhood and friendship-type relationships.
