Yeah neither did I tbh lol I just dug in the area I leveled up in so that I could get mats and I wondered why I didn’t get FPs lol.

Yeah, it's a funny sort of a see-saw effect.

Of course, if you're trying to level up your knuffel, you want to dig where they have the highest chance of finding things!
But once you've maxed them out, it gets more interesting.
Lately I've been prioritizing digging with the knuffel whose points were spread evenly (gives 19 points in each element at the end). It means they have a fairly decent chance of finding something no matter where they dig, so it's easy to concentrate on an element for whatever purpose. And if I put the Dark gazing crystal and the Water birdfountain and the Light firefly jar on the knuffel, then the chances of getting food from those areas is higher, too....

although I haven't figured out yet if you can actually effectively do that, or if they don't stack with each other such that only one of the items gives its effects. In which case, would it be the first one you put in or the last? Who knows....

i think the items will say if they stack or not.

but i earn FPs only when i sell stuff. XD;; which i don't do often. xD;;

But I've never been a fan of digging that way.
Because then you can't find digging items, and I love finding those

Actually! You can definitely get the digging items that way! (if by "digging items" you don't mean ingredients, you mean the special Firn-designed limited-to-a-year avatar or room items found by digging)
It's just not nearly as common. But if you've got several hundred knuffel then it still works just fine.


So I know the items don't stack with themselves in terms of that specific item -so putting 2 Chipchip fountains on the same knuffel won't increase the percentage chance past the value of a single Chipchip fountain. You would only do it for aesthetic reasons.

But I don't know if putting a Jar of Fireflies into the room of a knuffel with a ChipChip fountain means that one of the two is cancelled out, and only one elemental area has its percentage chance increased.... or if they both work concomitantly.

Well, yes, it's not technically impossible indeed.
But if you want to earn FPs you'll be digging in areas in which your knuffels have as few points as possible - as low as 1.
That's not a 0% chance, but it's very very low.
You would need to actively dig with hundreds of knuffel to get the whole set of digging items.

I usually only dig with many knuffels (not hundreds anyway) while I want something.

Yep.
My default area to dig in with knuffel when going for FP is water (and then I usually go Darkness for the water knuffel).
And every year I end up with more Water items for the digging items than I do for any other element.

So I know it's happening.

But for sure it's not happening quickly or frequently, it just gradually piles up over very large numbers.

Sometimes I go look at my materials inventory and try to even out the numbers of the rare stuff, since you never know when new quests will be released. For some reason the rare fire stuff tends to be lowest for me that way.... but Mem has such a handy store for materials that it's hard to stay motivated with that alone.

Do you tend to start with a specific element as a default when there are events? Or just do whatever?

I always dig in the knuffel's element.
It's quite balanced, I guess.
But the main reason is: I don't want to overthink it

Do you tend to buy all the elemental knuffel equally then? I seem to end up with little mini-armies of my favorites. So many lobster boys, and loads of that lovely fire gen gal who had the bull horns and tail and looked like a dusky Taurus from a zodiac set. I forget which gen she was, but I adored her and ended up with lots!
